Fished from 8-11 am and battled the wind and cold. It was well worth the trip though. Water temp was 65F.

My dad and I started out at the dam, trolling as usual, and had a double on the first pass. One fish was a smallmouth and I had something hit my big redfin. Probably a striper but my line snapped. I only had 8lb test on and there must have been a weak spot in the line :(

We fished for another hour or so and ended up with 3 largemouth all in the 16-17 in range. They were some nice sized fish. We also caught 6 smallmouth. 3 were 16, 16, 17 inches as well! 2 were about 6 inches. One being the smallest smallmouth I have ever seen. This is a good sign with the spotted bass problem we are seeing.

We then moved down river and fished picking up 2 more smallmouth.

All fish were caught on crankbaits in anywhere from 8-12 feet of water holding to structure.

Total for the day was 3 largemouth, 2 spots, 1 warmouth, and 7 smallmouth.

One thing is for sure, when the fish are bitting you don't have to be worried about freezing and being cold. We were busy with fish all morning and it kept us moving around :)
