I met up with JMax this morning at HBSP around 7. I think we were the only two fishermen on the lake for a while today. We started out on topwater and within 5 minutes or so, JMax had one in the boat. Caught on a spook of course. A few minutes later and I had one on my pop-r. Then JMax had a good one blow up on his spook but he didn't get the hooks into it. And being such a nice guy that he is, he tells me to throw right on it. I slung my pop-r right on top of the area and BAM, she nailed it. A nice 3 lb sow w/ a real thick belly. We move from that area as the topwater bite was tough today. We fished next to a marina with 1 more keeper. But then I had the big fish of the day hit my trap 5 ft from the boat only to come off a few seconds later. emoBang She probably would have went 4+. After that we decided to hit a long row of riprap with plastic worms. We picked up the rest of the fish of the day on the ole T-rigged plastics most on a color I am going to call "JMax Green". We had a 5 fish limit by 10:30. Best five keepers of the day would have went around 12lbs.

All in all it was a great day! It wasn't as cold as the forcast had called for but still cold. I got to meet a new friend and have a lot of laughs on a beautiful day. Thanks for the trip JMax. Lets do it again soon!

Final Score.... JMax 14, Fishin' Junkie 8. 15 for Jmax if you count his kitty fish.emoPoke

I had a great time also there fishinjunkie.emoToast Like FJ said we had the lake to ourselves most of the morning. We did have some nice ones this morning and needed a kicker to push our weight up there but we had three pushing 2.5 to 3 lbs. I remember we did wiegh the one FJ is holding in the first picture and it was 2 lbs and 11 ozs.emoThumbsup He should have trusted me, I told him it would go 2 and three quarters before he ever weighed it.emoDoh I am a pretty good judge as having seen a couple in my lifetime.emoBigsmile He had the big one get off like he said and that was interesting to see cause I was looking at him talking(what else is new) when it hit. He really did only have about 5 to 6 feet of line out and I thought it was going to take the rod out of his hands. I love to watch a person get excited about a fish. It pulled out the drag and took line at first, then he got it turned and I went for the net. It looked like it started to come up but right before it did it just came unbuttoned.emoBawl Those are the ones that keep you going back. Something else some of you all may find interesting and you can see it in the two pcitures. Those are both "PRE" spawned females.emoParty We had about seven that looked to be females that were fat with eggs and had not even bloodied their tails. I do think there are a few that spawned but there is a lot more that have not. I do not think any of the ones today had spawned yet. Great day on the water and 22 ain't bad under the cold snap with a front just gone through.emoCool Jmax

Oh well I'll catch ya next time before you go private. I did get out & go. Got one good sow that went 7.9Lbs. 23&1/2 inch.long. She too was full of eggs & tail was 1/4 of th way gone & blood red. She came on what else a pig & jig (that my good budy Flip1up turned me on to) in about 6-8ft. of water. The water was stained with shallow flat & deep water close by.... Glad you guys did well & thanks for the tip Jmax

. Oh yea Pic's of the 7.9 coming tommrow, I've got to get them developed from the disposable camera. I've got to break down & get a dig. camera. Anyone got a good little used one the would let go of reasonably cheap?

From the looks of the reports yesterday and Saturday the weather does not seem to have had too bad of an effect on the bass. They look to have moved off the beds and the shallows to the first drops to the deeper water. I bet with a little warming snap and the water coming up they will be right back shallow in just a couple of days. The water was on the rise yesterday and has come up about a foot more in the last week.:) Jmax

Great job guys. Jmax don't hair lip all of the bass before I get a chance to catch my two. It has been a real difficult spring with the Passing of my Father in law. Seems like I have been on the road every free moment. I hope to get out this week for bass for the first time since winter. Keep the great reports coming. You guys give me hope knowing that they are there and waiting.

Pretty fish guys! I really need to get out there and get me a few of those in the next couple of days. I hope that the weather will cooperate. You may be getting a call in the next couple of days Jmax. Be ready.

Jmax, you should do have a bad case of Roland Martin arm don't ya?

Yep....emoBigsmile If I could figure out how to have the bass suspended out in front of me and then I stand behind it I bet you could make a minner look 10 lbs. Now you know with me telling you the weights we were just making them look bigger then they really were.emoSmile But it helps to make them look like 5 and 6 lbers for the picturs.emoEvil Jmax
