Went catfishing today (finally, with perfect weather) with 3 guys from work and man did we have a blast. We boated around 25 cats total with the largest at 29 lbs (see pic). The first hour and a half was wide open as we found a school of fish in about 50 foot. These fish were all on the botton with the largest being aroun 9.5 lbs. We even caught 3 flatheads which is a rare sight fishing with dead threadfins. The two big fish (29 and 15 lbs) each came from 30-35 foot water depths.

(PS. That is not me in the pic as I did not catch the big one. I did however drive the boat so I guess I put him on it. Ha!)

I'm heading out tommorow a.m. and I can't wait after hearing a report like that! Where is the Coon and what lake is it on? Never heard of it.

I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure he's fishing Nickajack in or around "Raccoon Mountain Pumped Storage Unit." Or at least down that way... roughly 20 river miles downstream from Chickamauga Dam. Lots of good water down that way... obviously. Hope you have a good day Thursday. BTW, just FYI... I went and caught a few skipjack yesterday evening. Took about an hour to catch 15 or 18, and they were pretty small.

Drifting with the current fishing whole threadfin shad.

Yes "Coon" is the section of the river around Racoon Mtn Pump station. We run up river and fish around the Suck Creek area.

We are going again today. This is the time of year that you need to be there as much as possible to get a big one.
