Actually its oil companies gouging for that last few extra millions before end of year (read crude oil was up to close to 100 per barrel tuesday but dropped wed) to post higher profit, doesnt surprise me they seen Americans can go out and spend for Christmas and they are just wanting thier piece of the pie emoBang This coupled with the a depleting US inventory and the winter weather that created havoc on the transportation sector along the eastern seaboard source:

Add to that a world that will pay just about anything for more fuel and a good way to get the general american public to accept E15 blend fuel. Because we will if the price goes back down.

Do you have an alternative other than riding a bicycle?

Don't ride anywhere you don't absolutely have to. I would bet my paycheck against a donut that the vast majority of Americans could cut their gas consumption by 25% or more with a little planning. Might have to make a few sacrifices in our lifestyles but it would cause the price of gas to drop like a rock. As long as everybody has the all about me attitude the price could go back to $5 and most would not change the way they drive or boat or whatever. We could slow to the speed limit and save ton of gas. Lots of ways but it would only work if EVERYONE did it.

That's funny you should say that. Jimmy Carter tried to convince Americans to do the same things that you are suggesting now almost "word for word". His policies did in fact reduce our gasoline consumption by 25%........ then he rode a rail out of town, and is regarded (by you) as one the worst Presidents ever. hmmmm

Because the dollar is being devalued, crude oil and many other commodities are beginning to skyrocket. Products made from cotton and corn are predicted to increse by 30% at the retail level by late spring. Drilling in the gulf has been halted and that is beginning to squeeze the crude inventory. As for gasoline prices, you ain't seen nothing yet, folks. Just wait for the driving season to return.

Until the tactic to devalued the dollar and the flat out refusal to drill everywhere is reversed, look for things to worsen significantly.

The solution is two fold: 1) Force the fed to quit printing dollars to monetize the debt, and 2) Elect lawmakers who will implement the drill here, drill now, drill everywhere solution. As gasoline approaches $4.00 (April??), you will begin to see politicians who are up for reelection in 2012 begin to squirm (there's 21 Dems. in the Senate alone). If gasoline hits $5.00, which some predict, look for most of those running in 2012 to be thrown out on their butts (good for the american public). That will be the silver lining in this sorry mess if all 21 get voted out.

Not ONE of the worst presidents Danny. THE worst president in my lifetime. Until now anyway.

I believe you to be wrong on the president though. The first president to deal with the "energy shortage" was Richard M. Nixon. He implemented many austere programs. Not the least of which was a nationwide maximum speed limit of 55 mph. I was around in those days and vividly remember all the suggested and forced programs to reduce fuel consumption. Looks like the liberal history revisionists are at it again. One would think they would at least wait until the people that lived in those times died off before perpetrating the lies. Then again though the liberal arrogance obviously prevails.

I did some research and all I could find that Carter did was make some suggestions about energy conservation. Oh and he had some solar panels installed on the White House roof. They cost the taxpayers nearly 20 times more to install and maintain than the same amount of fossil fuel energy would have cost. Typical Jimmy dumbass Carter.

We can't rely on the govt to fix this. The solution is conservation by the people and demand for more efficient cars also by the people. I have traveled the world and I would estimate our per capita gas usage to be 2-3x that of the other developed nations in the world.

Go back and read the Carter "Crisis in Confidence" speech. It sounds just like your previous post. It seems that you agree wholeheartedly with the "worst President of your lifetime" lol
