I am telling you, if this morning stepping outside did not make you think about Fall, being out in the woods deer hunting or on the water somewhere set up to do a little duck hunting then you are not much of a hunter. ;) Talk about a tease temp. These early cool mornings make my mind want to head for the woods and look for that early Fall buck slipping through the wet dew of the morning. It will not be long before that time will be here. Lots of folks already working on their food plots and feeders. Makes the ol'ticker pump a little faster. Looking forward to trying to add to my collection. Can't believe Churly has not posted with wanting to see some deer photos, anyone have any to share for this year? Love to see them.emoBigsmile Jmax

I stepped out the front door, rubbed all my velvet off and pissed on myself. To beat it all, my shirt wouldnnt fit around my neck

You would never go with him. emoPoke I have been trying to get you to go hunting for three years! Your all talk when it comes to going hunting. ;)

Churly that is impressive right there. Just goes to show everyone what a person can do if they have the land/club, put their minds to the task, pass on small bucks, manage the herd, put out the food source and wait out the time for the bucks to mature. emoWorthy Jmax

Planting plots and running trail cams makes the season lasts a lot longer, and I really enjoy looking at it as total land management and not just "killing a deer". My plots this year are a mix of eagle beans, iron and clay peas, and Hutchison soy beans. I have also done some experimenting with Egyptian wheat as plot screens and bedding cover and I will be using it more in the future as I have it growing thick as corn and almost 20' tall on one property. Mother Nature has definitely helped with warm, wet conditions, but the flip side of that is the weeds haven't slowed down either. In the next few weeks I will be planting wheat, Oats, and I'm going away from turnips and going to try some daikon radishes and sugar beets for late winter energy. I'll try to post pics as we progress through the season. Looking forward to opening day of archery in KY next Saturday.
