Went out at about noon put in at the Hwy-58 bridge, thought about going to watts bar dam, after seeing the reports from rsimms and jonthefisherman Im glad I picked Hiawassee instead.. I couldnt find any bass to save my life .. then finnally within sight of the I-75 bridge I found 2 bass one 2lbs and one 3 lbs one of them on spinner bait and the other on buzz bait. I saw lots of big fish on the graph in 25-30 feet and shad too at that depth, could not get them to hit.. may have been stripers or cats, I tried caroilna rig and deep crankbaits.. the mayflies where hanging thick in the trees.. I was soo hot my brains where getting baked.. left the ramp at 4:30.

NRG, I've done much better fishing the river below the 58 bridge this time of year, particularly in laydowns outside of the coves and sloughs off the main channel. Fish the laydowns first with a white or chartreuse crank and then follow up by pitching either a Zoom Mag II worm, Zoom Magnum lizard, or Zoom Brushhog. Junebug works the best and use a 1/4oz bullet. At times, a 1/2oz black-n-blue jig with a craw trailer or a c-rigged lizard will produce bigger bass than pitching a t-rig for a reaction bite. Anywhere you find weeds or chunk rock, a Zoom toad will produce. As far as upriver goes, the mouth of Roger's Creek and the middle entrance to Candies Creek are pretty good. The schools of suspending fish are typically white/striped bass. We'll be fishing there Saturday and on Sunday afternoon and I'll post a report or two to give you some more precise info. The Hiwassee is, in my opinion, one of the best LM bass fisheries in our area.

The rocky bank on the Meigs county side just downstream from the 58 bridge is good too. SB's & CB's. Actually, I've caught some decent fish on the rip-rap bank on the left leading out from the ramp. It probably gets hammered pretty often, but who knows, maybe everybody else thinks that way too and passes it by.

Madbomber, I've caught a ton of quality bass along that rock bank by the ramp just before dusk. That is where I discovered how well the Zoom toad performs when retrieved paralell to chunk rock.
