The day couldnt have been worse on my end...well it could only if it came a hail storm.
I headed out to my first stop, waves were too bad to fish the area so I backed out and decided to hit a couple islands nearby. I caught several short fish on the backside of the islands with a spinnerbait. They were chasing bait fish everywere. Decided to run up river to the bridge to check out a spot, nothing doing. Ok up we go again, Decided to fish the tree line close to Jones Cove.
Was fishing the Sizmic Toad over the grass clumps when I head it hit. My loan keeper right at 15in but over 2 lb in weight. Ahha now all I need is 3 more and good kicker...I'm still looking for #2.
I had no telling how many fish (gar and bass) hit that toad and I wouldn't get a good hook set (lucky gar,5 nice bass) So I went back down river pretty rough ride, but the ride felt good. Started fishing a Senko in the Backwater area of the river and had a good keeper fish just move the Senko out of its way.
All in all, had a blast and can't wait for that CFF night tourney.
