6-20-2006 Catfish Report from the Riverpark

Went cating with Dhaun and Alvin today from the Riverpark. Fishing started out slow but we managed to put 6 fish in the boat by the end of the day with a 17 lber caught by Dhaun being the best (ask him about his bait). Cats were holding in deep holes (30-50 foot) and were caught on skipjack and Dhaun's secret bait.

Oh, and no cracks about my Gilligan hat.

I'll tell more about the secret cat bait after the Cat Battle. All I can say is it emits a chum slick of fatty oil and it's a new flavor for them different than cutbait or shad. I had my doubts about it at first but it has produced enough results for me that I have enough confidence in it to keep using it, especially when live bait is scarce.

fisherpal2k, The CFF Cat Battle is "class" for anyone who wants to attend I may not be able to school anyone but I bet others will and it's probably going to be one of the best ways to learn about area catfishing and meet some talented anglers willing to share some info on it. I hope your gonna sign-up!

Thanks. I only took a few of them. Dhaun took the rest. I love my Sony camera.

The beauty of this tournament is that each angler is an entry. My bet is someone who doesn't catfish often will get in the boat with someone who does and catch the largest fish. Catfishing is all about bait and location, not who holds the rod.

Dang it. I'm on 12 hr midnites that weekend. Maybe I can get in there again one day. It's hard to go fishing on the weekend and work swings.emoAngry Seems like everytime a good tourny or something comes up I have to work.
