Started around Sandy bottoms with Cr rigged lizards on main river points . Caught 3 17" smallmouths and 1 keeper largemouth . Went up to Hornby's hollow and had 2 keeper largemouths on Cr . Went back out to the main lake points and started throwing a dd22 . Lost a good keeper smallmouth right off the bat . Threw back in there and got a keeper largemouth . Went to another point and just started working it when one of the boats in the BITE tournament came in on me . Caught one over 4 and another one over 5 in front of his boat . Made me feel kinda bad. Asked if he was in a tournament . Said he was in the Bite tourn. so I let him have the spot . The rain came shortly after that and we left . Best day on the Barr so far this year . Best five around 16 to 17 lbs.

Good report and welcome. I used to live in the back of Hornsby's Hollow and used to fish all the areas you listed all the time.

My favorite bass bank on Watts Bar during summer is the point and flat just behind and beside the floating resturanunt (or whatever it is now) in the Landing (or whatever it is called now, it has been a few years since I fished up there). You cannot get a bite in there during the day but as soon as the sun goes down they trun on in there. Also there is plenty of lights and the cover is protected from the wind so it is really easy to fish at night. The water is around 25 feet just under the dock and goes up to a 4-8 foot flat just behind the dock (which is big enough to get a boat behind and fish). The bank and point across from the dock are also really good.

The rocky point on the right as you leave Hornsby's Hollow is good for smallies as well. We usually fished a 2" pumpkinseed grubs and used to kill them. Topwater is good there in the early morning and my dad has pic after pic of 3-4 lbs smallies caught on torpedo's.

Welcome! That was really classy of you to do that for the tournament angler. Hopefully he was able to get a few fish and did well. ;) Great report, and although I don't fish in TN all that much, it's good to get an idea of what is going on up there. I am going to have to fish a lot more of it in the future.

:)

Mr.Wiskers ,

I know where are are talking about . Caught a bunch of smallies there at night . The area around the dock is pretty good during the day with deep little N's in a shad color .

welcome aboard Tr19. Good to see some other Bar fisherman, and a good report. I like fishing that end, but I live on the upper end, and spend most of my days above Kingston. Look like I need to get down on that end soon.

Man I miss fishing Watt Bar. Especially at night. I may have to ride up in August or September when the threadfin schools get going and the fish start schooling. If you see any of threads schooling on the surface let me know and I will burn a few days vacation.

I seen several small schools of bass busting shad Saturday. No keepers in the bunch of largemouths that we caught .

How big are the shad? I used to fish shad schools when the shad got about 1.5-2 inches long. I would cast net some and free line them down Iron Hill on select points.
