Went catfishing today with Dhaun and had a blast. The current was basically non-existant but we still managed to catch 7 cats with the largest being around 7 lbs. I showed Dhaun some of my cat lairs and he showed me something that I had never tired before: Jiggin Spoon.

We kept seeing fish on the depth finder so David droped a jigging spoon to the bottom and caught 5 drum and 1 flathead in no time. He let me borrow one and I finally caught a 5-6 lb drum. I will definetly be buying some jigging spoons.

I have attached the photo of one of his cats, a 5-6 lb channel. The flathead he caught was beautiful but I messed up with the digtal camera and did not get a picture. It was about 5-6 lbs.

I have also attached a pic of a 10.5 lb blue that I caught on Saturday.

I think DHaun needs to change his screen name to "JigginSpoon." Catchin' cats on a piece of metal versus rotten, stinkin', smelly shad entrails just doesn't seem right. It keeps the boat far too clean. emoLaugh Glad ya'll had some fun... low flow was a hassle... my trolling motor got a workout today. Since the current wouldn't hardly move me, Mr. Minn Kota had to do a lot more work.

I must be strange because I love catching drum and the jigging spoon is like a kid in the candy store. The drum at Racoon are in BIG trouble.

I agree that catching cats on a slabe of metal was strange, but it worked almost as well as cut bait today. Mr. TVA, pleeeeeease give me some current!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for showing me around that area MrWiskers and showing me some great spots to fish! I appreciate the education and hope to go back soon. It's a really beautiful area to fish.

I always try to keep a jigging spoon handy for deep water situations marking fish like we were. It gives you something to do while drifiting and you never know what you might catch. We also caught a small bass and a couple bream on them. With the oil and blood from the cut frozen skipjack I was using and the flathead poop in the floor my boat still smells and looks like its been on a nice catfish trip, which is just fine with me! Especially when we caught Blue, Flathead, and Channel all in the same day!

I think the best fight I had tonight was with the channel cat. It had 3-4 good runs and I truly think it fought harder than the last rockfish of similar size that I caught.

No problem. Thanks for taking me with you.

I have said this before and I still think the channels fight harder than the blues pound for pound. Channels seem to run more and never quit twisting at the boat when you are trying to land them. A 10lb channel with fight as hard as a 15-20 lb blue.

It looks like you guys had some great fun. I meant to get out there on the Chickamauga cats sometime this week but I never did. I do need to plan to jig some of those cats sometime and maybe my boat would be cleaner.

Call me crazy .. but do you all see a resemblence between Mr.Whiskers and DHaun???? Guess it's the glasses and the facial expression .. but dang are you all brothers??????

YIKES!

Translation: I meant to go have fun but I forgot to... emoPoke

The first time that I looked at the first pic I thought that DHaun had shaved off his facial hair. Scary, TT and I think alikeemoConfused .
