Got to fish with drc this morning and learned a lot. First off I drift fish 100% of the time for cats and drc still fishing 90% of the time. So right off the bat I got a good lesson in still fishing, which I can tell you is a lot less work than drifting. We started off fishing around the Nuke plant (some of you know where) where I caught 3 "small fish" all 10lbs or less. I did have a decent fish twist my swivel in two and get off. We had a few more bait stealers so drc decided to run up river to try some new spots. The last spot we tried was a main lake hump where drc taged a 34 lber. All fish were caught between 20 and 40 feet.

Nice day on the water and it was good to get to know drc a little better.

It was good to meet MrWiskers and catch a few fish. I thought it was a tough day out there... no current and lots of boats out on the water. We still did pretty good and found a couple of new fishing holes. FishingMachine, was that you pulling up in the pontoon at daylight?

Say, what exactly do you look for when hunting down cats? Just deep water in humps or ditch lines? </p>

I look for cats! I use my electronics to find fish on the bottom holding to various structure and preferably with some sort of cover (wood or rock, no grass). Once you find fish just put some bait down there and see if they are active cats, if not... go looking around some more. It boils down to "time on the water".

DRC, It will not do you any good to try and find excusses. You can not get out of the fact that "YOU ARE THE BIG CATFISH MAN!" emoWorthy emoWorthy emoWorthy

Great job guys. The best part is finding the new spots. After a while everybody and their brother will be out there on the spots that you have in front of the power plant as there are so many boats out there and everybody is watching everybody else to see if they are pulling anything in. When I was out there this weekend I would expect that there were 20 boats. It's impossible to keep spots secret when there are that many boats out there. If I were you I would only fish your spots near the plant on the weekdays otherwise there will always be people on those spots. I think that it's great to share your info as to how to find spots but when people go right to the spot that you leave to check it out it seems to bug me for some reason. That happens all the time on the weekends and so I fish less on the weekends than any other time if I can help it. Again, congrats on your nice fish drc and MrWhiskers!

By golly... you are correct. I do see a hint of "teeth!" Of course I was worried about seeing a smile on DHaun's monster fish pics... until I got to the last one. I could tell he was one hurt puppy from manhandling that beast... until he got it on his lap. Then we finally got a emoBigsmile

polo-dog, I am begining to see the lightemoIdea. The nuke plant has gotten very crowded and the bite has slowed down there for me, but apparently not for everyone else. I'm going to start fishing the upper end of the lake to keep away from the big crowds and pleasure boats. I'm going to try some of my holes that were good this spring and try a few new places that Iv'e been eyeballing for a while. We'll see how it goesemoBigsmile .

Yes you wouldn't believe our morning. We hung a fish about 15 min. after we got in the water, and and it pulled us all over the lake. We fought this fish for 1 hour and 58 minutes and then the line broke.
