After I found this forum and all the other fishing forums that I frequent, I have been wanting to go fishing for over a month now!!! With a new house and moving and work, no time at all...
So I got home last night, checked out my gear and re-tied all my lures. Was hoping for a late afternoon-dusk trip, but it was dark before I got there.
The person at the baitshop said people had been catching big largemouth on nightcrawlers at the dam. So i bought me a can o' worms and headed out. Before I realized that all my "live" bait hooks and sinkers were in my boat... emoBang . So I looked in my tackle box and had one small Jig Head. First cast in about 10-15 ft of water, I thought I saw my line move so I set the hook... Snap, the jig head broke were the hook starts to bend. Lost about a 4 lb LM.emoAngry
Started fishing around 7:00pm and left around 10:30. Ended up catching 9 cat's and several bream. It wasn't a night of bass fishing, but it was fishing none the less and it felt good just to wet a line again.
This lake is a man made lake located in Dekalb Co. Alabama in the town of Sylvania. I beleive it is 175 acres with an earthen dam and 2 creeks that feed it. The deepest area is at the dam, with almost 40 ft of water(full pool). Smallmouth, Largemouth, Cat's, Panfish galore in this lake. You can fish from a boat, but you can't run an outboard, trolling motors only.
Some big LM can be caught in the spring...
