MY oldest son Addison, age 15, finally got a good deer this past Saturday, He has been hunting with me for the last 4 years, but did not get a deer last year or during bow season this year, despite numerous chances. He passed on a basket six during bow season, and has passed on numerous does and spikes in the last year and a half.

It was all worth it..he shot this nice 9 point (split G2 and G3) saturday afternoon, the buck was hot after a doe, chasing down a logging road. He could not stop the buck and had to take a shot while the buck was running. He shot a little far back, but the buck only ran about 40 yards before piling up in a dead fall, out of sight of my sons tree stand. It took 45 minutes for me to come to my sons stand, so we got to stalk to the dead-fall together..what a surprise!

It was the buck we had seen all summer and fall on camera, and had nick-named "crab claws" because of the split G2 and G3, the buck he had said over and over again he would hold out for...what a great day for me and my boy.

Buck was STINKY in the rut...

Here is the picture... if it has a green tint to it, it is due to envy! Tell Addison emoWorthy

Pretty, I was wondering that also. Looks like a regular gun hunt from the weapon. Glad he got to take a good one. emoThumbsup Was that a special youth hunt or is it from another state where gun is already in? I hope to do as well as he did, I am sure any of us on here would be happy with that one. Great job! emoApplause Jmax

Great deer.....he should be very (and you) proud. Not many kids/adults pass up those 6 pointers...and wait on that "special" deer. Congratulations young man!!!!

We were hunting this weekend in n Georgia. Yes, it appears the rut is on. Saw lots of chasing, and several stupid young bucks, w nose to ground.
