Moter cranks in the yard, but wont on the lake. This is the most frustrating thing I have ever had boating. Any suggestions on what might be happening would be appreicated.

Yeah well anyway. The thing has never really ideled on its own, and has always been trouble starting. Come to think of it, it might make some good cover.

I have seen a few weak batteries and starters dragging do it. What happens is there is more back pressure from the water having to be push out of the mid and opening the idle passages. This makes the engine turn slower and not fast enough to start. That is the only thing different. Does it seem to turn slower???? Just a thought....

I had the very same thing happen 2 years past on a 1996 Johnson 150, fooled and fooled with it, finally put a new power pack on it $365.00 later problem fixed. Still running strong and starts almost instantly, fished in it all weekend on Douglas. Hope it helps.
