I bought a 91 201 with a gt 200 johnson several years ago. I knew the boat and only had very few hours on it. It has no jack plate and the motor is all stock as far as I know. I would like some gains, but not sure where to start. Been looking at several things, but what would be my best bang for my buck? Not a tournament fisherman, so not looking to go 80, just some light mod's for better performance. Thanks.

Who's the best to start to talk to? So many options, 6,8,10" plate, and props, wheewwww!!!
Tim Hackney @ Performance Propeller in Soddy. 423-842-7767 on the prop and maybe jack plate size also.

10" jack plate....I can help there, prop depends a lot on the loading of the boat and the attitude you want it to carry when you are driving it....the 201 is a good running boat...

Work on the height of your motor first to get max rpm

Find out what that engine rpm's are suppose to be at wide open throttle and then you will know if you have the right prop. ( example )If your motor should be turning 5800 rpm and It's only turning 5600 then you would need to go down one pitch in your prop.

Jackplate if your transom can handle it. Jackplate are very cheap for the all around performance you get. I would recommend 6 inches with your PTP 3" below. I wouldn't bother with getting another prop till you get a lot of seat time. If you get a prop to early you won't know what your looking for. I can't stress enough about seat time though. Seat time. Seat time. Seat time

That motor did not come with low water pickups. Keep an eye on the water pressure. Jacking the motor too high will cook your engine and it won't take long to do it. Don't ask me how I know. emoBang

I have a 94 startos with a 200 Johnson I have 6 in jackplate on running a 24 inch taker. It runs good and have a good hole shot. Top speed is around mid 60. Joey Potter at Chattanooga Marine knows to set it up to run good

When I had my Stratos, (a 92 295Pro w/ a 200 Johnson)
it liked a 6-8 inch jackplate and a 24" Raker worked by Performance Prop if I remember correctly
We ran it fairly high by plugging the top water intake hole
We also shaved the heads some
Joey really made it run good back then when his Dad had Chattanooga Marine
He would be the one I would go to
