A Rare Victory for Gun Owners

Unfortunately, the devil is in the details. The mayor of DC is already saying the ruling does not limit their control of law abiding gun owners. Other liberal gun ban fanatics are agreeing.

At least this is a step in the right direction. Thanks for posting this Brandon.

it is a step in the right direction, and gives us the right to self defense in our own home. the NRA will be filing suit against similar laws in San Francisco and Chicago. I just hope one day people will realize its not gun control that is effective, its criminal control.

This ruling has little effect on gun owners in Tennessee because this state has a government that is very gun-owner friendly. Even if the Supreme Court ruling went 5-4 the other way, very little would change for the same reason. This decision only affects areas of the country with more restrictive gun laws. It's the only decision in the last 2 weeks that went the right way.

I hope everyone feels this way about ALL types of small arms, not just handguns and hunting rifles/shotguns.

I do!

During this reign of the next president, it is expected that two supreme court justices will step down. With a decision of 5-4, and the possibility of a change in justices, I wouldn't be celebrating to heavy as of yet. It is a victory for those who want to defend themselves in places like DC, NY, San Fransisco and Chicago. Should this decision change and a activist justices get chosen who believe the Constitution is a "living document" that they can mold to fit their agendas or expectations, and they replace justices who interpret the Constitution as written, Tennessee laws can change through their decision. Even if we have 3 tiered government, activist judges can force federal legislature to amend that a state may be required to follow.

Georgia state passed that I as a handgun permit holder can now carry my handgun almost anywhere ... including state parks , bars(but you cant drink if you have a concealed gun) , public transportation ... hope to see more states follow Georgia and give us all the right to defend ourselves anywhere we are

Better make sure on that bar thing - I am pretty sure you are limited to resturants that get at least half their income from food sales - but you are right, you can't have a drink if you are carrying.
