The 2014 ABA Nationals is going to be held on Old Hickory and will take place in mid to late October. This would most likely have the AOY final round take place on Percy Priest although the AOY tournament will not be confirmed for a few more months. First place for both of these tournaments are a rigged 21 foot Triton X series. They also give away a rigged 19 footer as a random draw at the Nationals. If you are interested in qualifying for these you can qualify by fishing our local ABA division 30 trail. To qualify for nationals you must fish at least four of the one day tournaments and the two day that will be held sometime in June. The AOY tournament will be the single top scoring angler from each division. That person will then qualify to fish a no entry fee tournament against approximately 30 to 35 other anglers for a rigged 21 foot Triton X series. AOY is determined by combining your four highest scoring one day tournaments along with the final two day tournament. All of the division 30 tournaments will be scheduled around Heartland and CBA. We have already fished one tournament this year and I have the November through January schedule set and is on the ABA website. I’ll have the remaining portion set once I see the 2014 CBA schedule.
Our next tournament is scheduled for Saturday Nov. 9th on Nickajack at Shellmound.
If you would like more information on this trail please feel free to call me @ 706-280-0711 or go to the link below.
Please note that this is not a buddy trail! This is a draw format. If you come in your boat you’re guaranteed to fish out of your own boat and linking is not necessary. Boaters and non-boaters fish against each other in this trail so we only have a few non-boaters, usually 1 to 3 per event so if you’re a boater you will most likely be fishing alone but there is no guarantee. Every boater is subject to have a non-boater.

I also want to thank all of our divisional sponsors for their support. They are listed in the attached picture below.

If I may.........based on what you stated above, is there a way to qualify since I missed the first TX ?? There are only 3 left...

That is only half of the schedule. February through June will be scheduled once I see the CBA schedule so there is still plenty of tournaments left to get you qualified. I'll re-post this portion from the original post just everyone is aware. there is a lot of info in the original post so this may have gotten overlooked.

This means that Churly can still deer hunt and then come and fish with us too.

It’s the same ABA just a different trail. This one is the American Fishing Tour. This is an amateur trail that doesn’t allow professionals and or guides. Professionals are deemed as anyone who has paid two or more entry fees within the last six months of $675 or more. Guides are deemed as anyone who has accepted guide fees for guiding on tournament waters within the 30 days prior to the tournament. In this trail all boaters are guaranteed to fish out of their own boat because there is no boater on boater pairings and no linking. Boaters and non-boaters compete against each other. Entry fee is $75 for boaters and non-boaters alike compared to the Weekend Series in which the boater pays a $200 entry fee and non-boaters pay $100. Scoring is different due to the fact that you don’t have to fish the whole trail to qualify for Nationals or to win AOY. All sign-ups, pre-tournament briefings and pairings are done on tournament day prior to take off so you don’t have to be there the night before the tournament.
As I mentioned in the original post, we don’t have very many non-boaters that fish this trail so as a boater you would most likely fish alone, but not guaranteed. I have included a link to the rules below so if you have any questions please feel free to call me @ 706-280-0711

Gary does a great job with this trail and it is by far my favorite to fish. We have a great group of guys who fish almost every month. We could use a lot more, that would make this trail even better.

One more question...can we sign up that morning at the ramp??

All sign-ups can be done at the ramp as well as joining ABA and membership renewals. I actually prefer signing up at the ramp as opposed to preregistering on-line.

If boaters are fishing against non-boaters, what keeps the boater from front-ending the non-boater all day?

Multiple times last season an ABA was won from the back deck.

Although we've never had issues with this before. The rules are very clear regarding this type of behavior. If a boater is putting the non-boater at a distinct and intentional disadvantage to gain an advantage then this should be protested and brought to the directors attention withing 30 minutes of weigh-in. All of our regular guys that have been fishing this trail seem to get along very well and respect each other and I want it to continue.

Sure was! Got my butt spanked from the back last year!
