I have a 17 foot avenger bass boat with 140 evinrude. I bought a 5.5 inch jack plate and installed it. Im getting out of the hole great. Bow of the boat doesnt seem to be lifting all that well, the spray is comming out right at the drivers seat. Also when I slow down I have to really stay in the throttle, if not the water will go over the motor. Any help would be great. I dont know if I have it set to low or to high.

I used to run a 140 on a `75 allison 15`with a 6 inch jack and a 21 sst OMC prop with a little cup added to the blades. I played with the jack some and found the higher I went the better it handled and carried the nose up to a certain point and then it would fall off the pad . You just got to play with it and adding cup to most props will lift the nose. I`m not sure I recall a Avenger boat but I would think the bullet on the lower unit would probably need to be at least a couple of inches below the bottom of the boat to start with...then adjust from there. Good luck.
Oh yeah... the wave coming over the stern when coming off plane is a good way to wake your partner up if he ain`t paying attention.emoBigsmile emoBigsmile
