Well I took the boat again to work, this time I took Mrs. minner. She had been kinda on me about not taking her and just taking my buddies out......anyhow.
Got in the water about 4:45 and took off to one of my favorites spots to try to get her on a big cat. First drift through I picked up an eater about 5lb, but he pulled like he was a 20lber. I let him go and returned upstream to make another drift. 2nd drift though Mrs minner hooked up with a decent cat. After an extremely long and awkward battle we had the 35lb blue in the boat. She kept wanting me to help her reel it in but I refused, wanting her to have her own glory. We took a pic and and let it go.
We promptly moved to another spot, and immediately I picked a 12 lb blue. As I was bringing my fish up and into the boat, Mrs minner was already doing battle with her second fish of the day. Keep in mind my wife is a fairly small woman, so to say she was a bit tired at this point was an understatement. I thought the fight to the surface would never end, and started believing the cat would win at any moment. After quite a bit of coaching she had finally got the fish to the top where I was able to net it, and haul it in the boat. The fat blue weighed right at 32lb.
She was unable to hold the fish up like I always do (baby, style) but by the second pic we figured out a way for her to hold one up good enough for a pics. BTW I videoed all of the happenings of the day, maybe I can put something together and get it put on here.
Usual setup, drifting skipjack on outside bends with 8/0 gama hooks in 20-50 feet of water.
