Advertisers with sound

I understand the need for advertisers on this site but blasting the pac man "waka waka" is a bit much! Good Lord, im just trying to check posts at work, not get fired. You all need to rethink that strategy.

Im not sure if its my server or not but there have been a couple of times that the advertisement in the middle of the screen has had volume to it. Without me prompting anything or scrolling over or clicking on the ad it has had volume. Ive had to back off the screen and when I go back there is a diff. advertisement without volume. If im the only one that has experienced it, it is user error, but I may not be.

When I posted this There was a pop up in the advertiser section that said I was the 999,999 user and was blinking red with a irritating beeping sound. I know I cant be the only person that has come across this and the pack man sounds.

There are certain types of spyware, or trojans, which can invade your computer. They actually seek out places on web pages where advertisements reside and then insert their own ads in their place. I know this because on two occasions we've had users (in-house) complain about pornographic advertisements appearing on our television station website. We KNOW we haven't sold or placed any such ads. The IT guys investigated and discovered a particular variety of vicious spyware on the two users computers.

I'd bet that's what you've got going on. Do you have any type of spyware/virus protection on your computer?

Ill be that is what it is. I went to my hotmail account and the same freaking pac man advertisement was up above my email messages. I guess its time to run some better software. Sorry if I offended any of the Mods on this site. Its just really annoying and wanted to make sure it was happening to everyone.

hooker one of the best antivirus/spyware programs out there is by computer associates or CA. it uses very little computer recourses and has a license for up to three computers in one package.
unfortunately there is some very devious spyware out there right now that no matter how good a antispyware you have
it CAN NOT be removed. the only solution is a reformat and reinstall. also make sure you have your antivirus/spyware
on and running BEFORE you ever connect the computer back to the internet
