Just purchased a new HDS-10, and moving my HDS-5 up to the trolling motor...Question is:

Are there advantages and/or disadvantages of networking the two? I currently have 1 Navionics card, 1 LHSP card, and the LSS unit for structure scan...I figure if I dont network the 2, I will lose the structurescan on one of the units (Unless I run a full-length cable emoConfused ).

I would greatly appreciate some insights into this from those of you that know these systems!

Thanks in advance emoThanks

I have the 8 and a 5 linked and the only issue I have seen so far is the surface temp on the front unit. I can't get it to show up on 2-D sonar. Shows up fine on the structure scan on down and side imaging but in that mode it's actually reading off the transducer for the LSS-1. I went into the menu on the 5 and changed it to this unit but it still wont show up on 2-D. To me it's not that big of a deal and everything else works great so I'll live with it. I'm sure it's something I have missed or something I don't have set right. emoLaugh

You need to network your HDS-10 with one of those electric shockers TWRA uses. Then if you do find fish you might actually catch one. emoPoke
