I am new to the site and am hopeful that someone will be able to help me:

I just purchased a boat that has a 96' Mercury EFI w/ one bad cylinder...I have experience building 3.0 liter 200/225 OMC's, but have never seen the inside of a mercury...I hear there are several options that can be considered w/ the merc that werent possible w the OMC...Any reputable merc mechanics that that would possibly be willing to lend me some advise?

Give me a call or come by. I have mercury blocks tore down all over the place and am building one later on today or tomorrow so If you want to come help, you can see what you are getting into!!! This one is stock and I have another that is HIGHLY modified being built. Can show you all what you need to know about either way. That engine can be made to have 50HP morewith porting changes and ECU change or 25HP with a ECU change. With a cylinder down it will needto be determined what the failure was or it will be right back where it is now. It would need the injectors cleaned and flow tested. That is what I am waiting for on the one I am building.423-304-0930

James:

I SERIOUSLY appreciate the invite! Where are you located? I am very tied up at work through Wednesday this week, but will try to make it down later in the week...I will try to call you this afternoon (My name is Matt, BTW...)

Thank you!

I saw some of those builds and mods the other night. James will fix you up.emoThumbsup

Wayne,
I might be able to get you a 175 ECU soon. Just be patient!!LOL!

Matt,
You are welcome. I have plenty of blocks to show you what you are up against and where the hidden power is.

-Not so much of a PROUD 'BLUE' fan at the moment, but a die-hard fan nonetheless!

James- I hope tp try to call you back sometime this afternoon if you're not too tied up...

That will be fine. It gets noisy with the compressor and mill. I have to bead blast some pistons so the compressor will be going. Maybe I'll be done before you call.
