I'm wanting to put a deck extension in my 89 v178 bumble bee. Anyone tried this with good results? What kind of material did you use? How much trouble was it to do? Any help would be greatly apprieciated.

Use aluminum. And make your template from cardboard first. Also undersize about 1/4 to 3/8 of inch so you can wrap carpet and it still fit.

I built a deck extension on my Bumble Bee V16 last winter. I also replaced the carpet so it looks very uniform. I had a sheet of Advantek ( high end partice board). I don't really get out in the rain and the boat stays in my garage so I used it. I also coated it with water sealer before I carpeted. I do woodworking some as well so building the extension was no problem. To get the floor level I used a level across the section and measured from the top down to get it level. The extra weight in the front helped the ride quality of my boat as well.
