Well guys, I Start it tomorrow. August 26.2013 My starting weight is 242.5 and I have a 44 in waist at bellybutton and a 47 inch chest. Ready to see the pounds drop and the inches go away. Really ready to get fit, not only for personal health, but to be a better outdoorsman!

My wife just signed us up to be Advocare distributors! I tried the Spark energy drink this morning and I must say its not horribl..................ly good! I had to guzzle it as fast as I could stomach but maybe the energy shots will taste better? I dont really know if they offer meals and all that other stuff but I'll look into it. I think as a distributor we get low pricing.

There isn't really anything in Advocare that would cause you to lose weight. The diet they put you on will cause anyone to lose weight. I have about 20 days of the 24 day challenge stuff left if anybody wants to buy it cheap.

I know some people who have become Advocare Loonies. Please be careful that you do not become one of them. While I haven't done Advocare, I'd agree with BeetleSpin: there's nothing about it that helps you lose weight. There are lots of vitamins and stuff and energy shots (that you, like many folks, find hard to swallow), but nothing to help you lose weight. However, the program seems to really drive people to make better choices. I know a number of people who have gone Advocare and have made amazing changes to their lives.

Was it Advocare or them finally getting fed up with how they feel/look? Doesn't matter, because it worked.

All this to say...go get 'em! If it works for you, work it!

We just bought it for the energy drinks. This morning was my first try and it seemed to work just fine. I made it to the YMCA at 5:30 and actually felt like working out still. Like mentioned above alot of it is just me being fed up with myself for the massive weight gain over the last couple years.

No supplements will make you lose weight, and of they do. It probably isn't great for you. The 24 day challenge simply puts you on a track to help begin healthy lifestyle changes. It also provides supplements to boost energy and to clean your body up.

My wife started that over the weekend. I don't know much about it but she really wanted it so I bought her the stuff. She never knew I was working on it so she was pleased with the surprise. It could've gone very wrong, but luckily she knows me well enough to know that I only bought it because she REALLY wanted it, not because I was trying to tell her something.

I guess we'll see how it goes.

BEETLESPIN - please PM me with what you have and what you'll sell it for. I'll run it by her and if she wants it, I most likely buy it. Thanks!

One of my overweight buddies is on some kind of diet. When I saw what it consisted of, I realized he is getting just under 1800 calories per day. He's a busy, active person who works hard and usually consumes about 5,000 calories per day. He has lost 33 pounds so far and gives the goofy diet total credit for the weight loss. I have encouraged him to continue it as long as he can because it is the only thing he has found that works for him. Sadly, he does not realize it is the reduction in caloric intake.

But that reduction in calorie intake will cause a plateau and eventual weight gain. To each his own and a lot of things will work for a lot of different people. Remember the Atkins when people were eating quarter pounders with no bun? Yeah, they lost weight initially...

Eat clean, hit the gym, stay away from sugar/cokes/aspartame and your body will thank you for it. I've increased my caloric intake from 2000 to about 3000 a day. I've lost 31 pounds since July 20th. I'm eating 3000 CLEAN calories a day, balanced, and I'm in the gym 4-5 days a week. Nothing but water and coffee to drink. I used to be a Diet Mountain Dew guy until I researched what it does to your body's systems. I get one cheat meal a week to go crazy, but find I don't really even want it with the results I'm seeing.

No drug, diet, or fad will replace eating clean, working out, and taking care of your body.

Dude I used to drink nothing BUT Diet Dew. I read the nutrition label and thought "The only thing better for me would be water"! My wife did the same research and showed me the effects of diet drinks all together. It sucks. I still drink it when fishing but thats pretty much it.

It's all about the aspartame and how your body reacts to it. Even though it's zero calorie, your body will actually start storing glycogen as fat due to the insulin release. It's some nasty stuff. The regular soft drinks would actually be better...more calories yes, but no aspartame either.

Eating clean for me is pure foods, not processed or canned. For example, whole fruits/vegetables, lean meats, whole grains, etc. I shop on the outer walls of the grocery store for the most part. The exception is for my oats and grains (rice, quinoa, couscous).

Look at the ingredients on the advocare stuff... Chemicals. If you want a boost then drink black coffee or unsweetened tea, the caffeine will give you the boost and both are a great source of antioxidants.

Look at the ingredients in diet soda... Chemicals. Plus it has zero nutritional value except for small amounts of sodium. Numerous studies have show it contributes to weight gain. It messes with your metabolism and the artificial sweeteners mess with your body to make you crave more sugars.

Several of you have already said it, if you want to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you're taking in, period. My definition of clean eating is eating nutritionally dense "real food" as much as possible and staying away from the processed junk that is high in calories with little to no nutritional value.

My advice is always the same...

1) Eat as much real or whole food as you can (great starting point is the "Power 12" foods, google it - I don't have anything to do with the Abs Power Diet, it's just a great tool/guide)
2) Eat smaller portions 5-6 times a day (keeps your metabolism higher and keeps you from getting to the "starving" mode and making poor decisions)
3) Count your calories so you know what you are eating (myfitnesspal is a free app I highly recommend), if you're guessing how many calories you're eating then I guarantee you are underestimating
4) Track your 3 macronutrients - protein, carbohydrate, and fat (most don't eat near enough protein and eat way too many carbs and fat)
5) Engage in some sort of exercise at least 3 times a week, ideally 5 or 6 times a week.

You can lose a lot of weight through diet alone, but if you exercise regularly your results will be much better and faster AND you will be truly healthy. There are a lot of skinny people who are not healthy in any way.

Guys, Matt knows his stuff here. Make sure and like his page on Facebook to keep up with the nutrition info he posts all the time. https://www.facebook.com/TeamLean. Him and his wife are certified in many aspect of personal training, and nutrition is a HUGE part of that. Following their core advice led me to loose 45 lbs last fall in just a few months.
