I had the same kind of luck with the ones I had. I got one and broke it in kind of like they said. It only lasted about six months. emoBang I sent it off and they replaced it, the second one I had I broke it in just like they said and took real good care of it. Never pushed it and babied it. It lasted about eight months. emoHoppingmad Sent it off and by now I was getting pretty pissed about what was going on. Rudy (Rodbuilder) called me one evening and told me he had found a Evinrude 200 Fitch lower unit that would fit mine. emoSmile I called the guy and he was only asking $500 for it, granted it was used and about ten years old but it had been checked out with nothing wrong with it. I jumped all over it and had it put on mine. Later the third replacement came back from SEI and I put it in my garage. Later Fordtruck needed one and I told them about the one in my garage. I asked for nothing more then to get the $500.00 back I had spend on the used one I bought. I explained to them all the issues I had with that company and they said they would take a chance on it. It only last them a month. emoAngry
I would not use one of those. They also say in their warranty they do not cover "Racing". I found out that if they find out you fish a tournament now and then they say the warranty is voided due to the fact in tournaments people race to the holes. emoProtest I think they do that to get out of having to replace it if you have it happen too often.
There are some who seem to not have issues with them. Most do have issues and some of the marine dealers now refuse to work on them or have anything to do with them. One place I talked to back when the second went out told me they take trade ins and give credit for your old unit. When I told them I had an SEI unit the said,"Sorry, but we do not take those, they are junk and will make a great anchor if you need one." emoBooHoo
I would stay clear of them if you have any other choice. emoGeezer Jmax
