Water Temperature: 83
Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater

Water is currently 8ft low and still falling regaurdless of how much rain you think we got LOL. With this cool front we just had it has made the fishies a little less hesitant to bite. Right now the fish are very scattered so that makes the run and shoot offense the best way to go in finding them by covering lots of water. I didn't see crap happening at the red top end of the lake for the 2 hrs I was there, so I packed up the boat and put it on the trailer and re launched out of Kelloggs and stayed in that area for the remainder of the day. Right off the bat I found some schooling fish around the mouth of Kellogg so I piddled with them for about 30 minutes and it was worth 4 spots on a bama rig. Then I decided to go mule huntin again with the 8 inch swimbait. I got my 5 bites and landed 4 of them and I had quite a few BIG followers throughout the day but couldn't get them to commit (but I know where they live) :). All of the fish caught were about 2.5lbs except for the kicker spot in the pic :). I think today I covered about 3 miles of water non stop in 6 hrs throwing the swimbait. Most of the fish I caught were where one type of structure stopped and another one started. Didn't really matter what the structure was they just liked that change up of structures for some reason. All the swimbait fish were in 8ft of water or less.

Here is a pic of some of my friends decided to join me while I was in the shade eating lunch today.

Some guys on the Allatoona forum wanted me to do a seminar on a multitude of topics pertaining to fishing Allatoona. So I decided to open it up to the public and rent out the Red Top Lodge banquet room. The seminar will be on Oct 7th (Saturday) from 4-8 (arrive 3:30ish). Topics will be Swimbaits on Allatoona, Sonar Interpretation, dropshot, Patterning Largemouth on Toona just to name a few to help everyone get ready for the fall/winter bite. Lots of prizes and donations will be given away. Click on the link for more info and directions to the banquet room

Hey man, reports from any of the area lakes are always welcome here. I've only fished Allatoona two times and I bombed on the first and wacked them on the secondemoScratch The last time we were down there we watched in awe as a guy in a Bullet powered by a Merc 300 screamed by us at what had to be over a 100mph. Later at the ramp we saw him flipping out over a busted prop...said he cut a swimming doe nearly in twoemoEek!

What kind of swimbait have you had success with? I've been contemplating giving the smaller versions a try on the Chick.

I too have fished the toona years ago, and it looks like you have them spots and buckets dialed in better than I ever did. We welcome anyone that can catch fish and even those who just wish...like meemoLaugh Thanks for the report T Mike.

Jason, I'm throwing alot of big swimbaits on the so called "dead sea". I find that when things get tough I'd rather upsize than downsize and it's doing very well for me right now. I'm catching several in the 4-6lb range as of late. The bait that I like the most is kinda pricey but the action is to DIE FOR. There is really nothing else like it anywhere action wise atleast in a hard bait. I use the Triple Trout that is made out in California. They are anywhere from 65 to 80 bucks depending on where you get them. In the last 4 months I had to repaint a few of them that I have had a few times and my favorite one I repainted 3 times LOL. Not that the paint job sucks it's just that the fish kill it when they hit it. The bait I am using is 8 inches long and you guys that have fished Allatoona know how much pressure we get on this suburban atlanta lake. I would reccomend starting off with a 6 inch bait until you gain confidence in it before you move up to the bigger bait. I am positive the smallies will hit them. I'm working it fairly shallow so I am seeing almost every fish nail it off the sub surface. Here's a giant I caught a few months ago on the bait. BTW you can get the TT's at Performance Tackle in Los Alamitos CA. There might be a waiting list but shouldn't be more than 2 weeks or so. Here is the # (562) 430-7671. And here is a video of the action of the bait. The seminar I am giving in Oct I'm gonna cover the swimbait in detail if anyone is interested.. You haven't lived till you've caught a toad on a big swimbait. A good topwater bite can't hold a candle to a swimbait bite!!
