I had a guy tell me that if I used a alum prop versus the ss prop that i wouldn't hurt my lu as bad if I hit something. Can anyone tell me if this is suh the case becasue I would like to use the ss steel prop I've got, but now I'm afriad.

The alum prop will break before the ss prop will and it does send a lot of jar into the lower unit. But I have used both and do like the SS for the non flex on the hard pull but in all the years I have seen those things pulled out of the river I would say that 95% of the damage done to a lower unit it wouldn't have mattered if it had been a alum or ss. I lost a lower unit at skull island ramp and I had alum prop on so run that ss and try to avoid those big rocks and logs.

Just don't hit anything. If you have a small motor aluminum props are fine. If you have a 150 or more you should stick with SS.
