I thought it was real neat. A lot of things like this look good on video but just don't work in the real world.

Personaly I just have the wife retrieve the anchor. Then she will retrieve a cold beverage of choice for me as well.....

Then I awoke in a cold sweat........

I saw this first time when I fished with Mike Mitchell (Southerncats).

It is GREAT! I was astounded. I don't anchor down a whole lot, but if I did, I would DEFINITELY have one of these.

The downside is that it takes up a lot of space in the boat. If you weren't sure you'd be using it, it could definitely be in the way. But if you go knowing you're going to be anchoring down, it is the way to go. Of course having a good anchor is important, but this thing really does work.

Thanks Richard. I don't anchor much either but when i do sometimes it is a pain to pull the anchor back up. The price isn't to bad either.

I saw this used several years ago on a guided trip on the Columbia River for salmon and sturgeon. They have to use some really heavy anchors to hold in the current and also have to be able to drift when a big fish is hooked. It worked great. When we got a big fish on, we just left the buoy and anchor and drifted till we got the fish in. Then went back and hooked up to the anchor line. Upon departure, you just idle forward and it pulls the anchor up to the boat.
