I thought i might start another thread. i am having an odd trailer tire wear issues. i have a 07 galvanized "wesco" trailer and a 17 center console century. boat is pretty heavy, but it is a matched set.
I run thru tires pretty quickly, just over a year or so before they are severly worn.
they are wearing on the inside AND outsides just like they are under inflated, but they are never under inflated. they will have almost new tread in the center, but the inner and outermost tread block will be wore slick. To look at the trailer rolling down the road it looks to be straight, and the thing is, the center section of the tire seems to be the only part in contact with the road!
tire brand i dont know, but they are radials not bias plys i checked that before. i run 50 lbs in them and they have never been low. on my 3rd set in 4 years, and tow probably 30-40 60 mile trips to weiss or watts bar a year and 2 or 3 to florida a year, so they do get some use
trailer doesnt seem to squat, toe in out or anything else.
any ideas? or should i just keep fresh tires on it and live with it?

The outer wear could just be from cornering. There is a lot of weight shifted when turning with the trailer. When you're driving straight ahead all of the weight is evenly distributed, but when you turn to the right, most of the weight is shifted to the left wheel and vice versa. Just a thought.

Heres my take...If its not a Goodyear, its junk. Bias ply tires will occasionally run like that on different rigs. Towmasters and Carisles were the worst ones to do this. Even thier Radial brands did this thats why we went over to nothing but Goodyear radials.

We get phone calls at the shop like this thread and we tell folks to change into a good radial...never hear back from them. ;)

I had the same thing go wrong with my trailer it was a single axle trailer that came with the boat the tires would run the edges off and the center would be good, found out to much weight for the trailer so had BBass (Billy) build a new tandem axle trailer for me from Tenn trailers about 6 years ago and no more tire wear and I always run the Goodyear Marathon tire then too

i thought it might be too heavy for the trailer. it has a posted dry weight of 1800lbs, 2 batteries, 35 gal fuel cap, a 90 2 stroke and all the tackle and stuff. trailer has a gawr of 2900lbs with 205 75 14 trailstar tires stock. The boat tows VERY heavy. It was a matched set from dream marine on lanier bought new in 07.I was hoping for a cheaper answer as i cant afford a new tandem trailer. i just got back from a trip to steinhatchee and back and it wore so bad i lost probably 3/16th of tread on the outsides and was all interstate running! centers could almost pass for new. it does seem to wear more on the drivers side tire than the other oddly enough but still evenly split between inside and outside dread blocks! I guess i will buy some goodyears and see how they work out. if they wear the same ill go the cheap a tire as i can afford route until i can afford an 18 or 19 footer and let the trailer go with my 17!!
thanks for the tips!

thanks Bbass, will do that. i have one brand new one (some cheap chinese trailer tire) and the other 3rd replacement trail star so i probably have most of the summer left before i have to buy a set. But do you sell them or recommend some where to buy them? size is 205 75 14 if you want to post or pm a price.
