There are a lot of good cooks on the Forum and you should get some good recipes.
If you want something I've been doing for years, get Carroll Shelby's chili kit at any store and follow their basic directions and add your own ideas.
The kit comes with enough cayenne to make it about a 5 on the 1-10 heat scale and their seasonings are pretty good.

I personally add onion, bell pepper, banana or chili pepper, red kidney beans, ground beef, sausage and diced up maple sausage links. Then at the end I add cooked elbow macaroni-like mine kinda thick.

the wife makes a good one.she makes a pot of pinto beans with 2 smoked ham hocks, after they are done cooking add 1 pack of MCcormic chili mix,1 pack MCcormic taco seasoning,1 chopped onion,1 chopped bell pepper,1 can chili ready tomato, brown in skillet 1/2 pnd hamburger an 1/2 pnd hot sausage.put it all in crockpot let it cook, you have to add water for your on desire of thickness.the pintos with the ham hocks gives it a hint of smoke flavor.lot of work but man!!the day after is even better.

alright jim i'll help a brother out...

get in your truck (take'n the big woman with you is optional)
drive down to bi-lo or walley world
get you a cart
push it to the canned isle
get 4 or 5 of the family sized of your most favorite canned chilli or if you cant think of one
then ask someone there to help you or just go with the one with the best looking label
take said cans back home and carefully pour said contents into the crockpot and let
it start to simmer..you'll be good to go in no time

remember saftey first, so dont cut yourself with the cans and the crockpot might burn you

Follow the one on Mexene chilli powder spice jar, plus add can of mild rotel and 1 or 2 cans of beans (I like one kidney and one pinto).
