I've just latly started fishing with an old partner & found myself fishing the same bait, in the same places. Anyone eles do this. I shouldn't worry, but if I'm gona fish with one thing I don't need the 40Lb. bag I carry around everywhere, or the 9 rods. Maby I should sell some, Davo?

Get you a Walmart bag like Fat Albert and put 2 lures in there along with a 10 count pack of panfish assassins, 6 hooks, 3 packs of crackers, 2 bananas, a 6 pack of soda pop, 2 ultralight spinning rods, and 1 trash fishing rod and have at it. emoUpsmile emoUpsmile That'll get you out of the rut pretty quickly. emoBigsmile emoPoke emoGeezer

Forgot to add, fish topwater lure over 50 feet of water and tiny jigs over 60 feet of water and catch your limit (1) just like Fat Albert and come home with all kinds of excuses about having the wrong size line, wrong rod, wrong time of the month, etc. etc. etc. Sounds just like my hero Fat Albert.

Man I'm a sucker when I've caught some good fish in a place I tend to throw the bait that I caught the big ones with even if it were several months before just to see what happens

I paid 2000 for my boat lol .. I guess thats like a 2k stereo system in a rusted out car lol maybe I need to start saving aluminum cans , and picking up along the road emoLaugh emoLaugh @ 50cent lb 100lb bags about 40 bags to get 2000 ... humm thats like like 100,000 cans .. RFLOL well at least I get some good exersise .. might take me next 10 yrs to collect that many though ....actually from the case of diet coke week I drink .. if I save just mine it will take 39.42 years to save that many .. by then I could get one for .25 cents anyway at a yard sale rflol

I was just thinking that I needed to call 2jigs myself, only to sell about 75 lbs of stuff that I never use.emoLaugh

since you r in a rut and i am not i take all donations i think i have almost six inches of space left in the middle section of the bulleto ha ha.

Seems like I always go to the same spot and fish the same lure that I have caught fish on in the past even though I know the fish are not there anymore. I have lots of lures that have never been opened because I want the fish to cooperate and hit what I want to use. I sort my tackle into boxes for spring, summer, fall, and winter, but I still grab the same rod and lure to start my day. What's wrong the fish these days ?

Years ago I fished jigs and worms on points ... throwing into 3-feet of water, working out into 15 or 20. If I wasn't doing that, I wasn't bass fishing. Took a co-worker with me one day... a novice, greenhorn... barely knew which end of the line to tie a lure on. After a very non-productive 3 hours he exclaimed, "let's go fish over there," pointing at a very shallow flat area, mostly 2-3 feet deep. I very begrudgingly indulged him. Throwing willow-leafed spinner baits we put a dozen quality fish in the boat in an hour. emoDoh I don't see that gentleman very often anymore, but whenever I do he he greets me with, "Hey Richard, let's go fish over there." emoRedface

I have been fishing off shore structure for the last couple of weeks. I have had limited success doing so. A few 3-4 pounders here and there, but not a limit of fish yet. I did have 4 good fish one day, since then I think I have only had 2 keepers on any given day. I have been blaming my dismal performance on this pretty new to me way of fishing ( structure ). I'm going to go back to whats worked for me in the past, flippin and pitchin to visible cover for a while. Wonder what my excuse is going to be then??? Yep, I guess I'm in a rut too.

It happens alot this time of year. Try not taking the usual bait and take only a couple of rods with baits you want to learn to fish. Go a step further and pic a section of the lake you dont know well. After a week or two of that you will establish a new pattern, or the fact that the old baits and places are the best bet. Bottom line: just fish through it. I was thinking you had been on fish this week?emoScratch

Churly is right, 2Jigs gets out as much or more than most of the non-retired guys on this site.

And he better start taking me along more oftenemoLaugh emoLaugh emoLaugh

Churly we have been on fish & good one's at that. I've broke three fish off in the last two dogfights that would probaly helped us win both of them. But like Eric said (the fish on this lake move around more than Hw153 traffic). And I know the fish on this lake are never stationary. They are either going or comming and that's my problem. I'm not sure where these fish (on what few holes I've found them on) came from, or where they are going.
