Let a buddy borrow my muzzleloader. He returned it with a bullet stuck in it with no powder behind it. Regular bullet puller wont get it because its a sabot bullet with a jacket. Ive heard of a CO2 adapter that will push it out. Was planning on using muzzleloader saturday. Any suggestions would be great.

That is why I love my removable breach plug Omega TC. But that doesn't help you now. I had that situation with a stuck bullet over bad powder in a gun I bought cheap because of it. I have a bullet puller that would fit a metal cleaning rod where I could apply more pressure. If the bullet is a hollow-point it should be easier to grip. Mine was a round tip lead bullet. Therefore I had to punch a starting hole in the bullet for a good grip. It wasn't easy but it did pull out. Another thing that may do the job is to use caps to loosen the bullet. First mark the depth of the bullet on your ramrod. Remove the rod and fire several caps then check the depth. If you are sure the gun has NO POWDER in it you may remove the nipple and sprinkle a very small amount of pistol black powder in the hole, replace the nipple then fire it with a cap. If you can get it to loosen a little bit, spray some WD-40 down the bore, remove the nipple and try to blow it on out with high pressure air. Might work??? Good luck.

Is the gun an inline? If so why can't you use a steel rod to push the bullet out? If it was the old style with a breech plug you could still use the steel rod.

Just had another brain storm at solving your problem. Since it is a plastic sabot, that gives to you another advantage. Remove the barrel from the stock, Insert your bullet puller into the bullet and then use a propane torch to heat the breach area of the barrel. Use caution to not make hot spots that may damage your finish. If you will keep the torch back and take your time with moderate heat, you should make the plastic sabot soften enough from the heat that it should pull out easily. Again, PLEASE be sure that there is no powder in the gun.

Thanks for the advice guys. Unfortunately, the bullet must have some sort of rounded brass head on it and we cant get the bullet puller started into it. Might try to fire a few caps and see if it moves. It is not an inline. so there is no way to get to it from the back.

This is a trick I have never needed to use in your circumstance but might save you. use a grease gun on the primer hole to "push" the saboted bullet out. it exerts a tremendous amount of pressure and will dislodge the round. needless to say clean well afterward.

I have never seen any kind of muzzleloader that didn't have some kind of breech plug that you could screw out and look down the barrel.

i had the same thing happen to me .loned the gun an got it back in this shape.i unscrewed the nipple an poured fresh powder in ,an swrewed the nipple back in an put primmers on it till it dryed the powder an fired, thus throwing the bullet out...good luckemoUSA

what yellburt said. i accidentally loaded a saboted bullet with no powder one day when i was first learning to shoot the muzzelloader... thought Dad was gonna kill me....

now we were able to remove the bullet with a puller, take off the nipple, sprinkle in a little powder, and fire. even if you only move it a little, the next time you should be able to get more powder in there, if you get a decent amount of powder in to where you think its enough to shoot the bullet out, be sure to reseat the bullet on the powder to make a good seal. then fire it out. might take a few minutes, but should be an easy fix.

Case closed! Breach plug would not come loose. Rusted and would not move no matter what we tried. Last resort option was to unscrew the nipple and get some powder down in there and fire. It worked finally! Got to go hunt with it this morning, no luck, but still happpy its fixed. Thanks for all the advice guys.
