Just picked up a 00 201D viper cobra w/225 merc and wanted to find out some info on it. Can't find out to much on the web.

Any complaints on the motor?? or anything to look out for?

Thanks,
Mucha

I've ridden in one... Seems to be a good boat as far as I know. The ride is similar to a procraft. IMO BBC should tell you everything you want to know in the forums.

Cograts on the Cobra. I have a 2000 Viper Coral 202 with 225 merc on it and love it. It is, in my opinion the best fish & ski made. My boat is essentially the same hull as yours with a fish & ski cap. You will love the ride and quality of the boat. Vipers run rather flat so don't expect to run with the nose real high like some other brands. You can trim it up but speed will suffer. Go to www.bassboatcentral.com and click on the Cobra page. My Coral is a little heavier than the cobra hull and I've gotten 68.5 mph on gps with a full load with some rpm to spare. Last time I was out with full livewell and me and my son-in-law I saw 64 mph @ 5500 rpm with some more to go. I expect the boat as I've got it set up will hit right at 70 @ wot. If you're set up right you should see 72 - 74 mph. I'm running a Tempest 25P prop at 3 1/4" below the pad with a 6" jackplate. Like I said you'll love the boat and the 2000 year 225 EFI Merc is as bullet proof an engine as you'll find. Downside is it is a thirsty beast. Gas mileage is going to be 3.5 miles per gallon or so at best. The newer DFI engines are much better. I always use Merc Permium plus oil along with Quickleen in every tank of gas. Enjoy your Viper and welcome to the Viper club. There aren't many of us here in the southeast. You probably know the boats were made in Arkansas and most of the dealers were in AK, TX, MO, and OK. I drove to Lewisville TX in 2004 to pick mine up. The company had many business problems not related to boat quality, but to management issues. It finally went out of business a while back. The Legend hull is very similar to the Viper hull. The bass boat central web site has a lot of good information about the boats.
