i am wanting to find a pistol for deer hunting next year and was wondering if anybody else on here does it. what kind of pistol do you use and stuff. i am researching the TC g2 contender pistol and i think that is the one i am most interested in but not sure yet. i cant find any gun shop that has one so that i can actually hold and look at it to make sure i do want it. if anybody knows of anybody that has one and might sell or even just let me look at it. that would be nice. but just looking for any info on what yall prefer.

I tried a .44 revolver a few years back but I do know that the TC is a great gun that can fire large caliburs and they are extremely accurate. I have never shot one but I have noticed that most of the guys on tv that have hunting shows shoot one of these. Dont know if this will help any but I would not be afraid to buy one of the TCs. Thats a pretty old and trusted brand of firearm as well.

yea thats what i was thinking. everything i read is that they are the best gun. the most accurate and everything. it looks like the only way to buy one is to order it tho and i dont know that i am willing to pay that much for something that i cant atleast look at and check out first

I have hunted and killed wild hogs with a T/C pistol.

My gun is Thompson Center Contender 44 Mag with 10 inch barrel and a fixed power Leupold scope.

These pistols will definitely put it in there if you know what I mean. Very accurate.

Plus no pressure loss like with a revolver so it will deliver the full load down range.

The great thing about a Thompson is you can simply change barrels to shoot whatever caliber you want.

I had the same pistol. You cant go wrong with a TC Contender. One of, if not the most accurate out of the box pistols you can get. emoThumbsup

what is the longest distance you would want to shoot a deer with the 44 mag. say in a 14inch barrel. not sure of the accuracy and the effectiveness. or with any other of the calibers that yall might be familiar with

I would go with the T/C never shot one but always hear good things. As for distance I would say just practice and go with what comfortable for you. I dont think I have really shot that many deer over say 100-125 yrds. but I typically hunt wooded areas that can be dense in places too. Good Luck!

i went with the tc encore in a 308. nice shooting gun, got a good kick to it but not to bad. hopefully i can put one down with it in the next few weeks before the season ends if not then maybe next year.

i use a ruger redhawk in 41 mag the longest shot i have taken was around 82 yards g/t 1" not a lot of kick but 1.00 per shot mine is stainless with a 8 3/4 barrel i use 230 gr swc they work well most shots at 50 yards or less have been passthrews i all so use a ruger p345 that i have not taken one with the 185gr jhp 45acp yet but i just started using it this year but will soon i hope
