Are you going out this morning to fish??? Did you go fishing this morning???

This may be a good day to catch about twenty something fish. That way the amount of fish will match the Temperature and wind speeds. They both are in the twentys today. BRRRRRRRR!!!

I'm sure somebody will be out there so if you were, admit it and give us a report.emoRolleyes

Not me! I might go this evening if the wind slows down. When the wind chill goes below zero or even single digit this old boy finds something else to do.
The guys fishing in the Nick tourney today are just hard core.

I went turkey hunting this AM. Passed up a shot on a jake around 15-16 pounds at about 17 yards. Hindsight being what it is, I should have plugged that young whippersnapper. Wind got up really bad and all the turkeys went to the other side of the mountain to get out of it. We quit when we could no longer feel our feet through 2 pair of socks and insulated boots. I'm not passing up any more shots no matter what. emoBang emoBigsmile emoGeezer

Just got hoem from the lake, man it was cold. We spent more time trying to keep the ice out of our guides than actually fishing LOL. We started at 7:30 and quit at 11:30 with 7 fish the big fish at 3lbs. Only seen one other boat the entire time that we were there.emoLaugh

Did a lil' bank fishing this morning/afternoon. Man, that wind cuts right through you. Didn't have a lot of success, but only fished about and hour and a half. Caught 1 lil' puppy on a shaller divin' crank, crawdad resemblence. Besides that, my hands almost froze off.

I agree, the temps have really dropped since the front moved through. Looks like the temps are gonna start going up this coming week

I told you guys that the water temps were going to really drop. That's a huge drop. I think that this drop is the biggest springtime drop that I have ever seen since I have lived here on the lake since '90. I wonder whether or not it will reset the spawning cycle for all of the fish that haven't spawned. It will be interesting to see how it goes from here on out this spring and into the summer.

We had a severe cold spell similar to this several years back and it reset the spawn on Weiss. We caught the biggest crappie of our lives on jigs in the grass that were full of eggs in the middle of May! Granted we did not catch big numbers of fish but we caught some well over 2 pounds. That same year we caught bass that were full of eggs in early June.

I checked the temps of the water at sundown in Wolftever while chatting with Polo. In front of his dock the temp was 68.6 degress. where we were earlier it was ranging in the upper 60's.
