My 16 year old loves to ride bikes. As of yet, we do not own any. Is there any place in town that rents them by the hour or day? The bikes at the River Park are only good station to station. I used them once and rode around all day. Got a nasty phone call from them a day or two later.

Used good Bikes are very cheap. I have a Mountain Bike I would sell for about Twenty Bucks that works as good as new. Plus I have a $400.00 Trek aluminum 24" mountain for $100.00 that you can not tell it is not new. Then I have a $1,500.00 Trek Hybrid Carbon fiber/Aluminum I would let go for $500.00. I got you covered.

I would waste my money on a cheap one. You can pick up a great entry level for 100-200 used. Last summer we started riding again and I bought a couple from walmart and had nothing but trouble from them. I got frustrated and found 2 a trek 4300 for myself and a diamondback for my wife. Got them both for less than what I paid at walmart.

PM'd you Jerry. I bought a full suspension Haro off Craigslist back in early November for $100. I did some basic testing before I bought it and it seems to be solid. East Ridge bicycles sells them and they are close. I also like the newer Trek, Specialized, and Raleigh bicycles, but with new comes $$$.

Nope. Station to station only.

How do they know how many stations you rode past?

There are GPS units installed in the frames of the bikes so Bike Chattanooga always knows where the bikes are. When you pay the rental fee, it is good for 24 hrs. The rides last 30 min or maybe an hr but all you do is pull up to the bike station. lock the bike back to the mount, enter your pin #. remove bike and start riding again.

Riding the almost empty streets downtown at three in the morning is a blast in the summer.
