Have found a deal on some batteries on Craigslist but all he has is deep cycle batteries.. anyone ever used one for a cranking battery i would assume it would work as it has 725 cranking amps just seeing if anyone has any experience with this setup

I wouldn't but that's just me. The two batteries are internally different. One allows current to flow quickly, the other dishcharges much slower. If you are starting a big motor I'd say stay with a cranking battery. It will turn the motor over quicker and possibly add a little longevity to the system. If you are running a 40hp motor then it wouldn't matter as much.

That said, I know tons of people running a 36volt trolling motor system and use one of the batteries as a slave starting battery. As a matter of fact I think Bass Cat only runs 3 batteries total when they are using 36 volts.

55 bucks.. for factory blems with a 6 month warranty and Minner i had the same concerns but it only be a 70 hp i was kinda thinking about getting it b/c i can get two batteries for 110 bucks.. im on a budget and that price is appealing

If its only a 70hp, I'd probably go for it if they are that cheap.

Ive got deep cycle batteries with over 700 cranking amps. I use one on my 90 and never have any issues. I got mine at a wicked deal and didn't think twice about it.

I use only deep cycle for my cranker because this same battery also runs nav. lights, instruments, fish finders, live wells etc. sometimes I run my live well for 2 or more hrs. before I crank the motor ( 40 hp 4 strk merc. )

I would give tnt in cleveland a call. I have gotten all my batt for all my stuff from him. The batterys for my boat if i rember right where no more than 100 with tax and all plus I had one go bad in about six months no ? asked just pulled it out of my boat and put a new one in on the spot and i was really expecting to pay at the very least a pro rate but just wants people to be happy great people to deal with
