I know most of you guys are still in dog fight mode, but the Kentucky Archery Season opens up in a little over a week (9/6). and the Cherokee National Forrest opens the deer archery season the following weekend. some WMAs have hunts like Prentice Cooper that begin on 9/21. Then the statewide archery opens in TN 9/27.

Any of you guys hitting any of the early archery season openers like Kentucky? If so, what are you seeing. I have two properties in KY, One I haven't stepped foot on, the other, I have busted tail getting ready. my deer up there seem to be in a typical late summer mode. The biggest buck we have on cam has a core area of about 100 acres that includes a bean field and a small patch of woods. We have 3 covert code black cams texting pics daily and from what I can tell the deer are not ranging very much and sticking to a core area, which tells me there is plenty of food available. Do to the consistent precipitation this summer, all of the deer are looking really fat and healthy. I have not seen any real acorn drop yet, but from KY to SE TN, the trees are loaded with mast and I expect a bumper crop in most places. im already loosing sleep over it.

Whats the word on your ridge?

No acorns on the ground in hamilton and bradley. When they fall, all my before season camera knowledge gets turned upside down.

Hope all the white oaks look like this one in my yard

Busted my hump for two days getting my place cleared and planted this past weekend, moved some stands, fought the waspers for ownership of another one, but I am getting anxious to slings some broadheads.

Went to our lease in western KY (Trigg) this weekend. Lots of plump acorns hitting the ground. On our lease they'll hit the acorns hard passing up "yellow acorns" and even crop fields and food plots. Just a couple days ago the 5 or 6 shooters that were showing up regularly stopped hitting my feeders and mineral sites. I'll be perched in a white oak patch on Saturday morning! Good luck!
