Are "Folk Devils" creating Moral Panic ?

Absolutely! The "global warming crisis" is a prime example. It is also a prime example of disproportionality

Disproportionality - The action taken is disproportionate to the actual threat posed by the accused group

Global warming is real... Pretty hard to deny that one

OK I should have said MANMADE global warming. Very easy to deny that one with the latest "evidence" of fraud coming from the perpetrators of the lie.

Disagree...

Obviously you choose to believe the doom and gloom crowd. That is your perogative. I never believed them to start with and since many of them were proven to be running the scam for profit a few months ago my opinion is bearing out.

I was kind of referring to our Legislative body. HoweverI see we have a see-saw going on. That's how the Folk Devils work. Making people hear what they want to hear.

The best way to judge wheather we have a man made global warming is to study the real proof. The facts are beingstudied inGreenland now. Ice core samples are being taken from the glaciers and studied as you would tree rings. The absolute truth is there. Did you know that the Ice covered glacier nation was named Greenland becauce of the lush green grassy meadows that covered the nation.. That was about 1600 years ago. It may be green again in a hundred years or so. The tests prove that the earth has a major temperature cycle every 1600 years and minor cycles in between. Amajor heat cycle is past due. You can find that evidence on the web. Al Gore did but tried to avoid it.

Its not about doom and gloom for me. You guys know I lean republican but I am a believer that we are causing climate change. Just about any big city you go to you will see smog everywhere. That stuff doesn't just disappear. Go to China and you will be appauled. You can't breath without choking the air is so bad. That stuff doesn't float out to space and go away. It slowly builds up and affects many things. I guess acid rain is false as well as acid mine runoff too. People can definetely change the environment they live in and I believe it will have long term affects unless things change. The only thing Obama has done that I believe to be right was to increase fuel efficiency standards in upcoming years. Less fuel usage equals less emissions. It also means less dependence on countries that hate us...

I agree with you Rod. emoToast People are doing everything they can to distroy our Enviroment. The conditions we need to survive on this planet. However, We can not hurt the planet earth. If we killed off every living creature on earth, give it a few hundred thousand years the dust will settleand then something new will crawl out of the water on this beautiful blue planet.

On the emmssion issue - - Quit making cars all together. We have more than enough already. Or have a worldwide limitation quota on the number allowed to operate. If a thousand vehicles are destroyed then manufacture a thousand more efficient vehicles to replace them. Simple if you think about it.

We should also quit making and flying Airplanes. Did you know that one single Aircraft (757) will pollute more then what 10,000 cars will do in one day. Lets face the facts, nothing is going away as long as there is money to be made by these industries. Global warming is happening , but I don't think that we are really causing it or at least not 95 % of it. A lot of it is propaganda or an agenda behind it all. We will be talking about it for years and little will be done. It's just another topic. Global Warming : just another way to bring more fear to the American people and it's working.

I thought God created the Earth and everything else in only six days, just 6000 years ago?
uh-oh.... I've done it now! emoHoppingmad

"Yep, You have gone and asked for it now!" Actually you are right. If you really think about it, it was six days. However those six days were well before man's calender was even thought about. The way I have it figured, when the earth was "Void" and then god started to work on it, a day was about six million years long as compared to man's calender. See everybody is right.

So I guess you really Don't believe in a "literal" interpretation of Gods' word. So, you would take whatever number science theorizes on the age of the earth and divide by 6? I understand now, I guess it's possible.

Volcanos erupting, earth quakes, sunami, hot/cold....polar caps melting, ice age,,,etc.on & on.
The earth was a disaster before man, then man came, the earth wil take care of herself, as she has done times over...carbon is your exhaling breath and if you want ot stop poluting, stop breathing.
It's called Caron Footprint, and you will pay every time a volcano erupts, regardless of what you drive or how much power/water you use, and the bigger your house, the more you will pay. They want your $$, and Al Gore wants it the most.
Liveliner makes a great point, some of you other guys have a hat that covers yours.
Don't bring the Bible into the equation, it will distort the facts.
Sodom & Gomorrah should have cooled the earth temperature by 10 degrees.

PS
Some of your Sr Citizens may remember: dying dinasours created the pools of oil we now get out of the earth.
They taught this garbage in the schools 50+ years ago, and longer.
