With the new boat ramp opening on the river down here it really has me wanting to run the rivers but they can be very rocky and shallow . I was thinking about adding one of these to my skeg and was wondering if its smart /ok to drill holes in the skeg, and if this will reallly help?? Also I will be making it myself out of 1/8 th steel insted of stainless,,,How much problem will there be with osmoses "sp" with the steel-aluminum???
Any info would be great..
Thanks

There will always be a catalytic reaction between steel and aluminum, the amount will depend on how much paint that you have between the two and how long it will take for the paint to wear off. Mac's river runners work well, that particular one will only help protect from the bottom. They used to make one that wrapped all the way around the blade. If you should encounter a rock that is the same height as your blade from the side "look out prop".

Dang...they've came a long way from the days of clamping some "pitch-fork" tines to a 10hp motor foot. emoBang

Coosawatie, and the Oostinalla,, down here in Calhoun to Rome...
Lost of big stipers, spots and cats...
But the big things is its closer to home so a quick trip to the river is doable as it is now if I want to fish the Tn river "and I love it up there" its a all day trip...

Here's a "Duct" type that should be fairly easy to make. They use them in Florida to protect the Manatees. Don't make it too strong!
