Man....the deer are really working some trees and scraps over right now. I sure hope by this saturday morning they are still in full swing. The rut seems to be in major full speed. Saw about 12 rubs and five scraps not really looking all that hard this afternoon. I was wondering how many of us fishermen are going to be sitting in the woods this weekend with the start of the regular gun hunt here in TN. emoToast Jmax

Nothing like being in a tree on a crisp cool morning watching the horizon lighting up and going over the hours of scouting, calculating, studing the lay of the land that you have your mature buck's travel pattern figured out in anticipation of the sight of first movement. Hearing that first bird awaking and the distant call of a crow and the excitement builts with each passing moment. The ole gray squirrel hits the leaves and makes you jump thinking this could be him. Then, regardless is if you harvest your animal or not the experience is priceless. It is the best positive experience to sit in Mother Nature's back yard awaiting an ambush. So, to answer your question JMax, I would have to say am a little bit excited yes.

ditto hookset! to be honest, by the end of last season, I was exhausted, (and yes, a little burned out)
but then a week went by and i started to get "the itch" again. so Ive basically been peeing my pants since February in anticipation of saturday morning.
78 hrs and 48 minutes to go!

Finally, my favorite day of the year is coming back around. I'll be driving 14 hours friday to get home so i can get in the woods sat. morning with Dad. My friends and co-workers laugh at how excited i get for this one weekend. Sure i've been bowhunting all year, doesnt' matter. the intensity and excitement level is unmatched on this morning.... opening morning.

Can't wait myself, we are heading out in the morning to Illinois for a weekend of shotgun season beginning friday a.m.!!! Gonna be cold unlike it was a couple of weeks ago when it was in the upper 70's to low 80's..........Good luck JMax and to the rest of you this weekend. Be safe.

This will be the first opening week-end I have missed since 1967. I will be rooting for all of you to enjoy your hunt.
If anybody is hunting Franklin state Forest this week-end try not to run over me coming up the mountain when I'm headed down the mountain on my way to work. emoBang

sorry you gotta work f4tp. ive only been hunting for a few years now (except for squirrel hunting as a little boy), and this is gonna be my 1st chance to be in the woods opening day. pretty pumped up!
