at the ramp

Here is one. A few years ago i was fishing at salecreek, it was getting late and i was by myself. There was only one other truck at the ramp and they had just pulled there boat out. i was the last one in so i backed the jeep down the ramp got out and loaded the boat. i got in the jeep and started up the ramp everthing was normal until i got to the top of the ramp. there was a bang. i looked out the back of the jeep and the boat was missing. i looked out the front and the two guys that was about to leave were looking at me with a surprise look on there face. i didnt get to worried. i just thought the boat just slid off the trailer. it was kind of funny i had seen it happen before, but not to me. i figured it was just my turn. i got out and went around the jeep to see how long this was going to take but there was no boat, no trailer, and no bumper. i looked down the ramp and there was the boat but no trailer. then i noticed the boat was sitting weird with the nose down and way out pass the dock. now the other two guys were standing at the top of the ramp just looking. they asked if i was ok. i just laughed and said i was fine. they said they would put there boat back in and take me out to get my boat . i said hang on a minute. i got an idea. so i looked in the jeep and came up with a pair of jumper cables. then i got in the jeep and backed down the ramp. the idea was back in the water as far as i could then climb out and over the top and hook the boat with the jumper cables then used the jeep to pull the boat back to the ramp. it's not easy to climb over a vinyl top jeep but i made it. now the jeep motor quit because i had backed it in too deep. i jump back in and it fired back up then i eased out. the boat came with me but just until the trailer, which was just dangling under the boat, hit the bottom. but it was enough. all this time the other guys where just watching this and snickering. it was funny. they said they would watch the boat while i went to get anouther truck. which i did. at a tournament a few months later i heared this same story being told again. i listened, but i wasn't about to own up to it. i know its a long one but I guess you just had to be there.

Wanna hear how last spring I was launching my boat to chase after those big blue catfish and it was one of those beautiful late spring days and the water was just starting to warm up a little and I had backed my boat in and discovered that I hadn't gotten it quite far enough in and the big motor wouldn't get the boat off of the trailer so I had to back up just another foot or so but I didn't think to hook the boat back to the trailer and so I stood on the ramp watching my boat sail off toward wherever the Tennesse river finally goes and there wasn't a soul anywhere in sight and I stripped down (almost anyway) and went for a brisk swim and on the way back with the boat in tow I stepped on on old lure in the water and it only poked me some but I couldn't get the stupid thing (the lure, not me) out of my sock and I'm hopping and limping around and squeezing the water out of the baggy butt of my underwear and trying to gather up my clothes and NOW someone shows up on the boat ramp?

There's not enough ink in my computer to tell all my ramp stories... I'll just say that many years ago when my wife and I live in Jasper... and there was no movie theatre ... when we were bored on Sunday afternoon's we'd buy a 6-packemoBeer, drive to the Marion County boat ramp and watch all the yahoos try to load their boats. It was much better entertainment than any movie.emoLaugh

Someone posted this a while back. Picture says it all.

it was dec 2001 or 2002 and the weather had been extremely cold for several days not much above freezing during the day.it was our last day of work before christmas so me and my boss left at12:00 to get a few hours of jack fishing in below the dam.we got everything unhooked and proceeded to put the boat in the water,my boss backed me in the water but the boat wouldnt back off the trailor so i thought i forgot to unhook the straps so we pulled the boat back out,but the straps had been unhooked.so i thought i was just loosing my mind due to the cold,so i had him back me back into the water.i put the boat in revearse and stepped on the gas but nothing happened except for the trottle cable breaking.i looked down beside the boat and the trailor was floating under the boat.we pulled the boat out again and discovered the boat was froze to the trailor.we had been out a couple days before and when we loaded the boat it had froozen to the bunks.we were set on fishing so we put the boat back in the water and put the motor in revearse and after 10 or 15 min the boat finally came off the trailor.we couldnt go far because of the gas cable but we did fish for a couple of hours until we were about froze.ill never forget the cold that day,it was so cold while we were strapping the boat back on the trailor the game warden pulled up but said it was so cold he wouldnt keep us and didnt even check our license.
