I'm not attempting to start a political discussion...but oh well! I personally am frustrated, I've always been told that its very important to participate in the voting process, and I have voted in each presidential election since I was 18, but this bipartisan mambo shambo kills me. I just want to be able to step into the booth and cast a vote for who I think is the right person for the country rather than picking the lesser of two evils. I think Sarah Palin is hot, but other than that nothing about this election or either campaign has impressed me-a sign of the desperate times our country is going through. But hey we're Americans, we'll make it work!?

I know alot of you guys own guns, and I thought this would be informative reading material considering the election is getting close. I hope there are enough of us crazy reds to keep the governement from taking aim at my gun closet-EVER!!! I hope yall feel the same way.

Churly, I don't want to say anything negative about guns, I have a house full but all I would like to ask of anyone is to do yor homework about any link that is sent to you during this election. Most of the links are sent to alarm you, piss you off, etc. most don't have a bit of truth to them, most of these authors do not exist, these posts that are sent around because they know how any sportsman loves his guns but again most of these stories are full of propaganda, go to google and put in the authors name, gun control or authors name, whatever publication and you will probably get a lot better answers than the one in the email or whatever you got to get you riled up. If there was a great divide in this country about gun control, all your hunting magazines would be full of it from cover to cover. In closing all I want to say again is read, read, read, read.

Excellent advice Doc1. Not referencing this particular e-mail (I have not yet read it), we need to be VERY careful in general with the things sent to us on the internet and need to research the truth behind them. It is too easy to take most of them at face value.

I'm waiting for someone to invent the half-truth/outright lie alarm for my computer. Sure wish they'd hurry!

Of course, my wife would want to use it on me......

I have guns that belonged to my grandpa, Daddy, and some I bought and I intend to pass them on down the line. I even have a few that were used to defend this country.
How did we let this Country get in this shape? Surely, leaders in this country are smart enough to realize that guns are not the problem. It makes me wonder what their real agenda is.

yeah its probably a big lie...I'm sure Obama loves guns and enjoys weekends in the woods. Yeah right! Like I said I was just passing this along, it could be total false info, but when anyone brings up the topic of gun control, they have my full attention.

BTW- the letter was emailed to me in an official letter with a seal of the house on it in Adobe reader and I couldn't attach it to the forum thats why it looks like robot font.

Dont blame me...I voted for Perot!!!!

True that!

I've done what has been suggested and googled for obama's gun control views.... the letter Churly posted isn't that far off.

Read it. Hope he gets Irag's and Afganastans first, before either or both of my brothers get killed. They shouldn't be there IMO. If he wants mine he can come get them. I want them home.A few hours sleep lost over this.</p>

I googled the name ( Richard Pearson ) and opened the header " ILLINOIS STATE RIFLE ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR RICHARD" . There I found that this story was carried by Marketwatch Weekend Edition on Oct. 15.
