does anyone know of any atv riding areas close to chattanooga. i just bought a new honda recon and need a new place to go ride. are there any public access riding areas near here?

Prentiss Cooper WMA has lots of trails. Mostly 2wd type stuff. Lots of family riding.

exit 20 in cleveland behind cleveland speedway. lots of people go over there and rode. i haven't been over there in years. pm fishn4cash i think he goes over there some.

Unfortunately most lands that have the supreme riding such as Etna Mtn. are being lease out now. However as Cheez said Prentiss is a place to ride the trails are not very challenging especially for an experience rider. We do have Cape Heart to ride at which is really fun. It has easy trails and difficult ones, both are marked as such. But Prentiss and Cape Heart are seasonal. Therefore they are closed at the moment. They'll open in spring. You can go North to Winn Rock which is fun, but it is a long commute. Bakewell has some riding but I've never been there. Pm me we can find somewhere to ride.

Houston Valley down near ringgold, you go down state route 52 or 53 not sure but you go about 3 to 5 miles. There's a little country store on the left and just past the store there's a road to the left that will take you up on top of the mountain. Once you start going down the other side it will be the first road on the right, turn right and go to the end probably 1 or 2 miles and you're there. I't won't open til march 1st but it's great and has over 22 miles of marked trails from beginner to expert. It cost $5 and load and is really nice, atv's and motorcycles only

Its state route 151 or exit 348 off of 75 then go south for 7 miles turn left on Nickajack Gap Rd. Go across Taylors Ridge and turn left on Capehart Rd. and run it until it dead ends. Same Place IFish is talk about and it is a good place safe parking and nice facilities.

Hey thanks twilson for the right info, we go down there quite a bit but in all honesty I never pay any atention to the roads LOL. It's a great place to go with the family

You turn right on Capehart Springs road. If you turn left you will go back to Ringgold in a long round about way.

BB,, Here is a link to the Ga side of fourwheeling, Houson Vally is a good place to learn if you are new, and can get kind of steep in some places, They grade it over the closed season so its usually mild the first part of the year,, Beasly knob is very steep and a fun place to ride,, but you can click on the link to find out more about the area...
Prentice Cooper is good trail riding"mild riding but lots of trails", and if you are into "Hard Core!!" I like Telico planes, havent been up there in a little while but it is big rocks and crazy hills I love it, Get a winch and a buddy before going there,
If you want to take a road trip a couple of hrs north , You have Winrock, Brimstone, And Harlan Co,Ky."Where you can ride around in the town" which are all great rides, you can do a search and there is lots of info on them on line,,...
And there is Always Hatfield Macoy, trail system the I belive is now about 3000 miles BIG...

bakewell is just about completly gated up. It is nothing but hunting clubs. I am a member and have the keys to the gates. if anyone is interested in riding up there just pm me.

thanks guys for all the great information. i am not into hard core hill climbing or mud bogging but i do like some hills. i have a place to ride in dunlap but it is all flat and starting to get boring. i saw some videos taken at tellico and what i saw was pretty hardcore stuff. i would tackle it myself but i usually have my daughter 14 and my nephew 10 with me, so i have to keep it kind of mild.
