I have been duck hunting all season. But a buddy of mine wanted to go to my farm and try to shoot a deer today. So we head out this morning get to the gas station and leave. Then I notice I don't have my phone so we turn around.
It is nowhere at the gas station. Great so now I'm mad we head to the farm anyways. Get up there and go to our stands. Guess what mine has been been stolen. So I get even more mad.
My buddy had his two radios so I'm walking to antoher stand and he calls me. Even better the stand he was going to hunt was stole to. Great now I'm flaming we both head to different stands now we are at stands 3 and 4 oh by the way they are gone to. So now I'm pizzed and ready to leave. Get back to the truck and head down the hill.
Now as it spudders to a stop. I remember that since I lost my phone I forgot to get gas. My wife was going shopping in calhoun and everybody else was at church so I had to wait. But once we got gas I got home and found my phone next to where I put my clothes on. Oh and we still didn't shoot a deer. I knew I should have went duck hunting instead.

Dang! Four stands stolen???? emoEek I hope they were not very expensive. I saw that Dicks had their annual clearance sale going on the stands they had left. I was thinking about getting an extra ladder stand to leave in the woods but your story makes me think twice. emoMad Jmax

WOW....and I thought I was unlucky. Someday gonna write a best seller on my MIS-adventures of hunting and fishing! LOL Oh yea....I hate a thief!

They weren't expinsive stands just old ladder stands. But dang take all four of them but at least they had to cut the chains fist. I'm going to build shooting houses next year. In the last ten years we have had probly ten stole. So the shooting house will be better since it can't walk off. Then we are putting infared trail cams up so we can get some pics. Then they will be going to the local pd hopefully for some trespassing charges. We had some guy pull up to our fence about a month ago right at dark and pulled a spot light out. So since I had my wife and kid we left to call twra. You can't hardly get anyone on the poaching hotline by the way. But we did get too the pd and they helped us out. Not sure if they caught him or not. But they did say they will be checking our property from time to time. I did talk with a twra officer and he gave me his number and he will stop by when in the area. So thanks to twra and decatur pd maby we can end this crap.

You need to make sure and use a heavy duty chain and lock on all stands. Climbers, lock-ons, ladders, etc. Also, your crazy if you dont think they'll steal your trail cam. Especially if they think it took their pic. If its land you own. I guarantee its neighbors I'd be knockin on doors, and if you ever catch somebody-prosecute to the highest extent! No if and or butts! That sux dude!

We had big logging chains and locks on them. I have cut through some pretty easy putting new chains on our trailers. So with alittle time that they had it was easy. We don't live there it is all lease land. We talked to several of our neighbors they are pretty good about watching out for us. But we have a new guy on the back side since bowater sold their land off we used to lease it to. I need to go over and talk to him next time I see him.

The trail cams I am going to put up would be very well hid. I know they would get them and I also want ones without flash. That way they wouldn't be alerted that they are on camera. My buddy has some that are we could use as a live feed to my computer. So at least if they get them I would have computer back up. I am pretty sure I know the truck that is doing it but I can't catch them they come on the backside and spotlight deer.

Oh and by the way Mikie my buddy lives in Kingsport so I kind of have to work around his schedule. And just because I was not in church does not mean I am not worshiping. Quite frankly I have talked with my pastor and he understands that some people would rather worship alone. Since the church service doors are open on sunday do I have to be there. I can praise the lord in my car or in the woods or on the water. I am no less of a servant to him by not worshiping in a structered enviroment. I talk with my pastor on almost a daily basis and do attend church frequently. But it just happend my friend got off and wanted to hunt. And I have had several stands stolen over the years some of them most likely on a sunday. So it is not me that was in the wrong it was the person who stole them. But thanks for your reply and God bless you.

I have talked with Mr. Majors he is keeping any eye on our place when he can. He patrols up that way but they are very under staffed. I am glad they do their job to be out with people that have guns and don't want to get in trouble. Not to mention they are a long way from back up. Those guys deserve a pay raise.
And decatur PD is also stoping by when they can even though they don't have to. I hope to catch them I wouldn't have minded as much if they just hunted out of them. But I do the work on the plots and hang stands and run tractors. Then they just steal from us and have shot some of our cows.

I know how you feel. I was on a lease one time and had a couple of stands stolen by the timber company. They came in during the middle of deer season and started cutting timber and stole our stands. It sucks sorry it happened to you too.
