What a waste. How can we have a good fishery with this going on?
I can only dream of catching fish that size. Its pitiful to see good gene stock killed like that.

I called the game warden.Thanks churly. i know those guy's have to make a living but they need to check there nets ever day some of those bass you see {and thats just a few of them} have not been dead long and some even tried to swim away but floated back to the top.

You DID use a fillet knife to get the bass out of the net Right???? Not on the bass, but the net. Those fish really looked tangled and had to be cut out Right??
Sarcastic yes but following rules keeps this to a minimum, leaving nets unattended is NOT following the rules!!!

I didn't damage his personal property-I WANTED TO- but i didn't cause that's how he makes his living.
But wardon said they have to check them every 24 hours and you could tell this one had not been cause even some of the cat fish were dead and it takes them a long time to die.I just hope he starts checking his net's every day cause the bass can survie a day in there not much longer and you can turn them loose and i think they would be just fine

Had 2 guys running nets across from Shellmound on Nickajack last year. Don't know how long they ran them but the fish are gone from that area. I saw bass and crappie in one of the nets. They came up on me real quick when I found the nets, so they had to be watching them.

These nets are everywhere . twra needs to check them and fine them for every fish over their creel limit instead of making excused why they can't catch anybody. Don't seem to have any problem camping at ramps writing tournament fishermen tickets. Need to cut nets and keep pistol or long rifle in boat for tough guy commerical fishermen . Fishing that way is nothing more than being a f--- ing scavenger and abuser of a resource. Twra needs to be ashamed they let this shit go on .

My gosh. That's awful. There's another net down past the first slough when you turn left out of HBSP in 20 feet or so of water. I was about the only boat out in that area yesterday and ran up on him while he was checking it around 3:30.

The owners need to be required to keep a registered buoy number and a time checked log for each net. they also need to be required to keep a grease pencil chart attached to said buoy and write down the time that it was last checked so they can't sit at home and update their logs. Any nets that have not been checked within the allotted time need to result in a huge fine to whom ever that net is registered to.

I hate seeing crap like this! It's funny that on lakes that they stock stripers, they are not allowed. But on lakes where they stock trophy Largemouth that get big enough to get stuck in nets it's no problem. So what they are saying is they care more about stripers than Largemouth I guess. Even though LM is the most popular game fish to go after in the country.
If the asian carp ever get in here then we will need nets(even though it would probably to late at that point anyways). But not now. There are other methods to catch fish. Those nets are such a nuisance to get stuck in.

And think about it like this, summer mortality in live wells is terrible no doubt and we still make strides to make the livewell ride better for the bass. But these nets are everywhere and they are killing bass that will be spawning soon.

Seen them stretched all the way across Eldridge watched a guy put 4 out in the mouth of the park so all fish coming in and out would have to swim an obstacle course they should eliminate the. Not to mention the props that had been messed up by them
