Well not much to report made a long ride up river to where i found them tuesday. well guess what they all went on vacation. fished it for 2 hours nothing,we just started fishing our way back down.My son managed 2 keepers 1 spot 1 large mouth. we throwed everthing in the tackle box started to throw the tackle box in.lol
We just threw our 2 back loaded the boat at 1:55 and headed to polk co.I dont think i will be back not because of the fishing. we were coming thru the ridge cut and at the bottom is a big dip or something in the highway we about lost truck + boat and all.Thank Lord for watching over us thats why i pray before i leave the house.I believe i will stay at the chick and upper nick a jack.and watts bar (hint, hint}.thanks to those that volunteer to run the tournament they do a great job.this is probably the best tournaments i have ever fished.Lord willing i will see everyone in a couple weeks.

Glad you are OK after the incident! I don't think pulling the lake level down 18" helped any on top of the high pressure stall-out, and no wind. I loaded out at 1P. Had about 7 shorties and 1 keeper pull off at the boat. Couldn't take the heat and disappointment so I got out. That's not like me but I too will probably not be back to the lower Nick. I-24 is always a hazard.

Sorry about the problem you had. There are some terrible dips in our highways. I have to slow way down after crossing the bridge going north on Dupont Parkway and also on the Hixson Pike exit ramp. Thanks for your report!

Thanks for the report better luck next time my friend always be safe on the interstates out there

Glad you didn't lose it right there on the ridge, unfortunately I did. Right in the turn at the bottom of the ridge cut my truck suddenly started getting sideways, I fight it back straight and suddenly I'm sideways the other direction. Somehow I don't flip and get straightened out and I look in my rearview mirror and sparks are flying everywhere. I got to the side of the interstate luckily to find my trailer had came completely off the hitch. Good thing it was 4:30 am and no other cars were on the road because we were all over the place in all lanes when it happened. One of the safety chains snapped and it was holding on by only one chain. We got it lifted and back on the ball. We examined everything and didn't see anything wrong with it. We started back towards Nickajack and barely a mile later we hit the overpass right before you start around Moccasin Bend and it came off again. Luckily I was going much slower and made it to the side without too much of a problem. At this point we knew something was drastically wrong as the hitch was still closed with my lock in it. After examining it we realized I somehow had a size too small ball. Ive hauled boats with this ball for over 10 years and never had a problem. I left the boat with my dad on the side of the road and went to wal mart and purchased the correct ball. We got everything swapped over but by that time we had missed blast off. After further examination once we got home I realized someone had stolen my entire receiver tube and swapped it out with theirs with a smaller ball. I have no idea when and where they stole mine or why they replaced it with theirs but it clearly wasn't the same one I've had for 10+ years. I'm just lucky we didn't wreck or hit anyone. I guess its time to put a lock on mine.

Its a good thing one chain held. I've had that happen. Itll sure get your heart pumpin'. Glad you all are ok.

I know it will probably never happen again but if you have to, you can tighten the nut under the claw and safely tow a 2" with a 1 7/8" ball.

glad you was alrigh.t i thought about calling the state and see what could be done.i can't believe they have not fixed that yet know wonder there is always a reck there

I was right behind you when it came off the second time. That place you had to pull over really sucked. I was going to try and pull over and help but there was no room anywhere. Very dangerous place. Glad that chain held or I would have been all in your boat.

Wow that's some really close calls and I'm glad everyone is alright!
I always hated pulling something through that section of interstate. Hard to believe TDOT hasn't done something about it.
