Just got back from being invited to hunt Clark and Edgar co.s from a friend who operates Paries Edge outfitters. I got there last Thursday and Hunted Friday thru yesterday. A lot of the corn was still standing due to all the rain they had in that area. Me and a friend from Alabama hunted from daylight to dark and between us we saw over 50 bucks while in our stands, I saw one deer that awed me so much that I got tunnel vision and passed up some I should have shot. I never pulled my bow back. This place is unbelievable and full of 150 and above bucks. The chasing we saw were mainly 135 class bucks and smaller with the really big ones locked up with does. It was unreal at the huge bucks laying down with does in the middle of the cut fields. If any of you get to experience the Illinois thing during the rut be careful and not let it ruin you, It's very addicting. Scott Anderson and his camera man were there filming and they set up today in one of the places that me and my friend hunted and where both of us passed up some very good bucks. The name of his show is Backland Country and comes on GAC on saturday mourning. They are from Wisconsin and got a kick out of the way me and Mike talked. Mike saw 35 deer with 9 being bucks and 4 of them shooters from this stand yesterday. Scotts a nice guy for a yankee. I have no regrets from not taking a buck and I must be crazy on passing up some really good ones. I have seen some good bucks in my life and I can honestly say the deer I saw was an absolute Booner with out a doupt. I saw him three times. Edgar and Clark Co.s are located on the Wabash River in Eastern Illnois in the middle of the state and about 75 percent is corn and bean fields. The only thing that keeps me from moving up there is there is no lakes just cricks ( thats creeks for all of us southerners).
