Wow what a trip. Those merriams are beautiful birds. The first bird I killed had three beards, 1 1/8 spurs and weighed 22lbs. The second had a thick 8" beard and weighed 18lbs with 7/8" spurs. Me and my bro n law also got a double. We had five gobblers in shooting range at one time. It snowed three inches on sunday. I think this is by far the funest hunting trip I have been on.

Nice birds... SD is an awesome place to hunt no matter what you're after... The pheasant hunting there is amazing... Glad you had a great trip...

I saw more game on that trip than any I have been on. Whitetail, muledeer and antelpoe were every where. I also got in a little prarie dog hunting.

Looks like a great trip Michael! Thanks for sharing and congrats on a couple FINE birds!!! You got anything special in mind as far as the mount goes? You have some of the most creative mounts I've seen in all of your species!

Thanks for the comments.I'm thinking on the one with three beards i will mount him on the roost in a half strut gobbling. And the other I may mount him on a pedestal in full strut so I will have one that is easy to take to shows. Eventually I want to get a grand slam and have one of each mounted on the roost side by side on the wall. Next year I hope to get either the rio or osceola. I will post picture of what I think I will do.
