I have a 200 black max that I burned up one cylinder back in April. I called Hiwassee Marina and he told me it would take 3 to 4 weeks to fix . Well it took 4 months and that's not the problem. I pick boat up last Saturday and took it straight to the water and run it how he told me to break it in . First my hot foot gets stuck when I let off of throttle which it never done plus I have a alarm that goes off close to 5,000 rpms. So I called to ask about it and he told me that it could be running hot or no oil pressure which I mix the oil cause it has been unhooked since I owned boat but he left the gear out for the oiler and he said that could be it. But he said he could install a temp gauge and a spring for hot foot for so much money. My thing is I never had these problems before and think they stem from the work he done any suggestions on how I should handle this .and also in the four months they were several phone calls checking on my boat that I kept getting the run around when it was going to be fixed. I would get told a certain day then something else happen to motor so it was going to be a little longer

Well Chris, I hate to hear your issues. I too, and many others have been in your same situation and all I can say is that it Sucks! So I've only heard of two people going there and one had all good things to say and the other's boat wasn't able to be fixed and he had other issues also, but this was a while ago. Man, last time I took mine somewhere when I got it back I had a soft spot in the floor and the shifter was very stiff. Soft spot was caused from not lifting the front of the boat high enough to let water drain while it sat there for 2 months. I try to just do most of my own work now but I know there will be a day that I run into something that I will have to take to the shop. I would definitely let them know what issues you are having since it wasn't that way before you took it to them. About the alarm, check and make sure all your plugs are tight on the spark plugs. Happened to me last year quite a few times and I just couldn't understand why that alarm kept going off and it was usually when the motor was hot. Plug had come undone.

Thanks for the reply I let them know and he is wanting to charge me to fix it and I'm thinking if it's running hot he didn't do something right when he rebuilt it but I don't know

Take it to Wes at WaterWorkz in Cleveland. Professional and timely. I needed a lower unit worked on one time and it needed to be done in 4 days. They got it done faster.

So my father in law lives in Smyrna and has a pretty good mechanic. He actually takes video of everything he does to your boat and will post it on youtube so that you can watch it. I had never heard of that before but thought it was an awesome idea. He is quick too. Smyrna is only 2 hour away. If you ever needed his number I could get it for you. <I know that don't help you now though>

The hot foot should have a spring on it already, as far as it running hot i would make them check it may be problem with rebuild and should be under their rebuild warranty.

I quit using them yrs ago after 2 rebuilds on the same motor,,,,cylinder was bored crooked and they wouldn't stand behind it

Yeah the spring is on it I think it's in cable or something and as for alarm want me to by more parts cause it's not covered by warranty just labor and my thing is it wasn't done right and I done payet for it to be right

I looked it up a constant beep is over heating an it said it could be the sensor not sure I was just looking up the alarms

Hit wretchin2 up, I know you have already lost money on what you have had done but if you want it done right he is the man. I recently had work done on my Mercury from him and he is unbelievable when it comes to a Mercury. From just talking to him while he fixed mine he can diagnose one from what you tell him. The man must work on them in his sleep. On top of that he noticed a bolt that had com out of my transom mount and acted like he had known me for life and replaced it for nothing. All around great guy!!!

i also had wretchin work on my boat he is the man mine had an alarm going off he tracked it down in just s few minutes and unhooked my oil pump and stopped the alarm i now mix myer own oil and have had no other problems he also has worked on blazers boat and done a great job on mine and blazers he is fast and great give him a call he can help
